The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) continues the Kadin Impact Award (KIA) judging series as an effort to appreciate the programmes and initiatives of regional Kadin in exploring and developing regional economic potential. This time, Kadin Indonesia had the opportunity to visit and conduct judging of \"Rumah Kurasi\" initiated by Kadin Kota Kediri to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in improving the quality of their products so that they can upgrade. Also present during the visit were Deputy Chairman of the Kalimantan Region of Kadin Indonesia Feri Rizal, Chairman of the East Java Provincial Kadin Adik Dwi Putranto, and Standing Committee of the Sumatra Region of Kadin Indonesia, Dripa Sjabana.<\/p>\n
Rumah Kurasi is one of the curation institutions in Indonesia that is engaged in the inspection, maintenance, and supervision of the quality of MSME products in the form of physical products or services. Later, curated products will go through a clustering process so that these MSMEs can participate in scale-up and mentoring programmes that suit their needs.<\/p>\n
The Acting Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi, appreciated the initiative of Kadin Kota Kediri, which has succeeded in helping MSMEs to improve and enhance the quality of their products through a standardised coaching and curation process. \"Various mentoring and consultation programmes have been made very well and structured, so that Rumah Kurasi is a bridge for MSMEs to be able to upgrade. This programme can also be an example at the national level, how MSME empowerment is done inclusively and collaboratively,\" said Yukki.<\/p>\n
The idea for Rumah Kurasi started when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. The many cases of layoffs inspired Kadin Kota Kediri to encourage economic improvement through MSME empowerment. The collaboration between Kadin Kota Kediri, the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia Kota Kediri, and the Government of Kota Kediri is expected to be able to accommodate and guarantee the quality of the results of the curation of MSME products, so that they can create global quality products.<\/p>\n
MSME players who participate in the Rumah Kurasi programme will go through a documentation process, administrative selection and certification by certified competent curators. Rumah Kurasi also provides mentoring to MSME members with the aim of increasing market knowledge through experienced experts.<\/p>\n
MSME businesses can enjoy several services at the curation house, including product curation, MSME onboarding, MSME mentoring and development, product export aggregator, and MSME corporatisation. As of January 2023, there are at least 1,500 superior products registered in the curation house and 888 certified superior products. Products that have gone through the curation process are marketed in various regions such as DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Kalimantan, and Maluku. Some curated products have also been exported to ASEAN countries such as Malaysia and even to the United States.<\/p>\n
Chairman of the East Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Adik Dwi Putranto, stated that programmes like this are the result of ideas from the Covid-19 pandemic. \"Since 2020 we are faced with the Covid-19 pandemic, East Java Province through Kadin Indonesia is trying to collaborate so that MSME products do not die. As a result, the Curation House was finally created and has been able to help MSMEs upgrade since the pandemic,\" he explained.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of Kadin Kota Kediri, Muhammad Solikhin, said that bringing MSMEs to the next level and having new competency standards is one of the main focuses of Kadin Kota Kediri. \"Kadin Kota Kediri always tries to make innovations, one of which is this Curation House which is able to help MSME friends to continue to advance. We hope that the Rumah Kurasi programme, which has been upgraded to a national scale, can be replicated in other regions in Indonesia such as Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Director of Rumah Kurasi, Setyohadi hopes that with more MSME products curated through \"Rumah Kurasi\", there will be more Indonesian MSME products that can market their products to various regions throughout Indonesia, even the world. \"Through this programme, we also want to help so that East Java MSME products, especially Kediri, can be increasingly recognised throughout Indonesia and also in the world.
