In order to strengthen the contribution of the business sector in revitalizing vocational education & training and certification, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has established the vocational and certification sector at the inaugural meeting which was held on June 6 2023 with Mr. Adi Mahfudz as Vice Chairman for Vocational and Certification Affairs.<\/p>\n
Improving the quality of the Indonesian workforce through vocational education and training and certification has become one of the focuses of Kadin Indonesia's 2021-2026 work program. Based on data from the Ministry of Manpower, Indonesia was recorded as having 55.88 million workers in April 2023. 65.12% were active workers, namely people of productive age who were working while the remaining 34.88% were non-active workers, people of productive age who is not working.<\/p>\n
The background to the formation of the Indonesian Kadin vocational and certification sector is the establishment of a vocational working group in 2022 with the aim of revitalizing vocational education and training. Along with the increasing activity and demand for manpower in industry, the institutionalization of the Indonesian Kadin vocational working group was strengthened in the form of vocational and certification sector complete with its Vice Chair.<\/p>\n
In the inaugural meeting in the field of vocational and certification, Kadin Vice Chairman the Coordinator for Organization, Law and Communication, Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi said that it was hoped that the presence of this sector would further accelerate the improvement of human resource competencies in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cCurrently, many skills provided by vocational education and training institutions are not in line with the skills required by the industry. Therefore, it is hoped that the existence of a new sector at Kadin Indonesia can overcome this problem so as to produce superior human resources or workforce,\" said Yukki.<\/p>\n
Regarding Kadin Indonesia's work program in the field of vocational and certification, Kadin Vice Chairman for Vocational and Certification, Adi Mahfudz Wuhadji said that the strategy and real work implementation of all field programs will be supported by 5 standing committees, in this case: vocational education, vocational training, cooperation between ministries\/agencies and industry, job market and apprenticeship, as well as professional certification.<\/p>\n
\"Kadin Indonesia is committed to supporting the acceleration of improving vocational education and training in a comprehensive, continuous, integrated and coordinated manner. One of them is through the support provided to the Vocational National Coordination Team (TKNV) and Vocational Regional Coordination Team (TKDV) in strengthening Vocational Education & Training Revitalization according to the needs of the workforce and the job market,\" said Adi.<\/p>\n
He also said that the realization of competent vocational human resources requires support from the labor market which is able to absorb and encourage entrepreneurship through increasing excellence, access, quality, relevance, and participation in the world of work. Therefore, the implementation of Kadin's work program for this field will also collaborate with one of the training platforms owned by Kadin Indonesia, namely, Kadin for Nakers.<\/p>\n
\"Kadin for Naker, as a platform, aims to provide training and skills development that can be accessed by all workers in Indonesia, especially for workers from various sectors and industries free of charge,\" said Adi.<\/p>\n
Adi also said that the Kadin for Naker was hoped to be able to improve the skills of the workforce, especially workers according to current industrial needs, so as to increase the link and match between the workforce and industrial needs.<\/p>\n
The holding of the first meeting was immediately followed by the implementation of the action plan. As stated by Adi in the closing session, \"Theory is important, but execution is even more important\".<\/p>\n
