The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) together with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) are preparing a cyber security blueprint as a recommendation for the government in terms of decision-making related to cyber protection. The blueprint is planned to be completed before the change of the new government in October 2024.
Firlie Ganinduto, Deputy Chairperson of Communications and Informatics at Kadin Indonesia, said that besides BSSN, the blueprint will also involve businesses, international partners, and the public.
"Later, this blueprint can become suggestions, recommendations, and input for the next government so that it becomes a strategic guide and basis for policy considerations taken by the government," said Firlie (28/6/2024).
He said, in terms of substance, the blueprint will contain a comprehensive mapping of potential threats and attack targets, regulatory readiness, as well as several other strategies and approaches related to cyber protection.
"We see the need to strengthen the cybersecurity system in Indonesia is increasingly important," He added.
Because, continued Firlie, cyber attacks such as ransomware have the potential to disrupt ongoing business processes. Moreover, incidents such as theft and loss of company and consumer data are very vulnerable. Especially, the financial sector, which is considered safe, is vulnerable to being affected by falling public confidence and disruption of banking business operations and other financial services.
The business sector is expected to increase awareness of the impact of losses that can be caused by cyber attacks. In 2021, BSSN estimates losses due to cybercrime in Indonesia to reach IDR 24.9 trillion.
