Kadin Indonesia in accordance with the provisions of–Law Number 1 of 1987 as the umbrella organization of the business sector in the field of state business, cooperative business, and private business.

• 1957: Establishment of the Dewan Perusahaan dan Perniagaan (DPP) at the central level, and Majelis Perusahaan dan Perniagaan (MPP) at the provincial level. The DPP-MPP was established by Government Regulation No. 11 of 1956.
• 1964: The National Consultative Body for Private Entrepreneurs (Bamunas) was formed under Government Regulation No. 2/1964.
• 1967: The government issued Presidential Decree No. 84 of 1967 which gave businesses the freedom to form their own organizations.
• 1987: Law No. 1 of 1987 on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) was issued.
• 1996: Presidential Decree No. 97/1996 was issued.
• 2000: Presidential Decree No. 61/2000 was issued as a refinement of Kadin's previous bylaws as stipulated in Presidential Decree No. 97/1996.
• 2006: Presidential Decree No. 16/2006 was issued to approve the amendment of Kadin's Articles of Association and Bylaws as a result of the Special National Deliberation.
• 2022: Presidential Decree No. 18 of 2022 was issued as a replacement for Presidential Decree No. 17 of 2010 relating to the approval of changes to Kadin's bylaws.
