The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is leading the private sector to achieve Net Zero Emission through specific initiatives or strategies implemented to drive decarbonisation efforts across industries.
So far, Kadin Indonesia has focused on helping businesses to transition to renewable energy, thereby contributing to the achievement of national sustainability targets. Through the Kadin Net Zero Hub and the Energy Transition Task Force, it has played a role as a guide and bridge to help companies understand and implement ESG practices effectively.
Indonesia can play an important role in global efforts to address climate change and achieve sustainable development. Through the Energy Transition Task Force, Kadin has three pillars to build a low-carbon economy, namely green industry development initiatives, renewable energy manufacturing, and energy distribution.
Kadin has implemented the GHG Accounting Bootcamp programme, where it actively trains companies to build strategic partnerships in the Net Zero ecosystem. In addition, Kadin also provides an intensive programme to facilitate and guide companies in implementing GHG accounting and publishes commitment letters based on the Science-Based Targets Initiative SBTi, which is a guide to establish and promote best practices in emission reduction.
Recently, Kadin collaborated with East Ventures and the World Resources Institute to initiate Ecovisea, a free web-based Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions calculator that can help companies measure their environmental impact. This innovative solution has made a greater impact on GHG accounting knowledge and bridged the gap among the private sector.
Kadin collaborates with governments, global leaders, and national and international private sectors through various joint programmes to support decarbonisation, encouraging businesses and industries to make the energy transition.
One of Kadin's key initiatives in promoting sustainability and guiding business and industry towards zero emission goals is the Kadin Net Zero Hub (NZH). This platform is committed to environmental sustainability. Kadin NZH provides companies with the tools, resources and guidance they need to start their journey in reducing carbon emissions.
The hub focuses on three key initiatives: reducing emissions across industries, driving a low-carbon economy through the development of electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy and sustainable fuels, and strengthening global net-zero efforts in the ASEAN region. The Kadin Net Zero Hub seeks to raise awareness about net-zero goals and practices, encourage private sector participation in line with government efforts, and build a strong network of sustainability-committed companies across Indonesia.
