New York - Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo, Special Envoy of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for Energy and Environment, stated that international interest in renewable energy investment opportunities in Indonesia is growing significantly.

He made this statement after attending the Bloomberg New Energy Forum (BNEF) Summit 2025, held in New York, United States, on April 29–30, 2025.

Hashim, who also serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), described his participation in the forum as a meaningful experience.

“This was my first time attending a Bloomberg NEF event. And for me, it was very valuable. I met many new people and formed new connections,” he said.

Hashim added that he used the opportunity to present Indonesia’s policies and developments in the renewable energy sector.

“I was very pleased to convey messages from Indonesia related to the government’s renewable energy programs. This has been a meaningful experience for me, and I hope to maintain a relationship with Bloomberg going forward,” he continued.

According to Hashim, a number of investors from various regions have shown serious interest in entering the Indonesian market.

“Quite a few funds are interested in doing business in Indonesia—from the United States, Europe, and also China. We've already met with several prospective investors from China who remain keen on the Indonesian market. So I think the prospects are quite promising,” he explained.

However, Hashim pointed out that some regulatory hurdles still need to be addressed, particularly those related to local content requirements.

“I think the licensing process has become more convenient, but there are still persistent issues—chief among them being TKDN (local content requirements). This remains a sticking point for many of our trading partners, especially from the United States. So this is something we must work on reducing,” Hashim emphasized.
