Kendari - The Southeast Sulawesi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Sultra) demonstrated its concern for the community by distributing 400 sacks of rice to online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers in Kendari City on Monday, September 1, 2025.

This initiative was carried out as a form of appreciation and support for workers in the online transportation sector, who play a vital role in the local economy.

The rice distribution took place on Syech Yusuf Street in Kendari. Hundreds of ojol drivers showed great enthusiasm and lined up in an orderly manner to receive the assistance.

Vice Chairman of Kadin Sultra, Sastra Alamsyah, stated that the activity was an initiative of the Chairman of Kadin Sultra, Anton Timbang, and part of a social program aimed at helping those in need.

“We see these online motorcycle taxi drivers as heroes of the street economy who continue to persevere. This assistance is a small token of our gratitude and support for them,” said Sastra.

Sastra Alamsyah expressed hope that the rice aid would help ease the economic burden of ojol drivers, especially in the face of their daily challenges.

He also added that Kadin Sultra remains committed to implementing other social programs that benefit the wider community.

“We hope that this small gesture can be of some help. Moving forward, Kadin Sultra will continue striving to contribute even more to society,” he concluded.

The ojol drivers who attended expressed their appreciation and gratitude for Kadin Sultra’s care and support. They acknowledged that the assistance was very helpful in meeting their daily needs, particularly for their families at home.
