Kemenperin Tegaskan Komitmen Menjadikan Indonesia Pemain Utama Industri Keramik Dunia

November 10, 2025 - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) reaffirmed Indonesia’s strategic role in the global ceramic supply chain through the hosting of The 32nd World Ceramic Tiles Forum (WCTF) 2025 in Yogyakarta. The international forum, attended by delegates from various countries, marks a significant milestone in showcasing the strength of Indonesia’s ceramic industry, which now ranks among the world’s top five producers.

The statement was delivered by Director General of Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Textile Industries (IKFT) at the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawazier, representing Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. In his remarks, Taufiek emphasized that the ceramic industry is one of Indonesia’s leading manufacturing sectors with strong growth potential, supported by abundant local natural resources and a well-integrated industrial structure.

“With an annual production capacity of 625 million square meters, Indonesia currently ranks among the top five ceramic producers in the world. We are optimistic that with the right investment and policy support, Indonesia will soon move up to the world’s top four,” said Taufiek during the opening of WCTF 2025 in Yogyakarta, Monday (10/11).

Indonesia’s ceramic industry has continued to demonstrate strong growth. In the second quarter of 2025, the cement, ceramics, and non-metallic minerals processing sector expanded by 10.07% year-on-year, making it one of the best-performing subsectors within non-oil and gas manufacturing.

Between 2020 and 2024, total realized investment in the ceramic sector reached IDR 20.3 trillion, employing around 10,000 workers. As of 2025, cumulative investment has grown to IDR 224 trillion, supporting approximately 40,000 jobs across various segments of the production chain.

“The outlook for Indonesia’s ceramic industry remains highly promising. Infrastructure, property, and construction development continue to drive demand. Moreover, domestic ceramic consumption—at only 2.2 square meters per capita is still lower than in neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Thailand, leaving significant room for market expansion,” Taufiek explained.

In addition to strengthening production capacity, the government is encouraging technological transformation in the ceramic sector through the adoption of digital printing and digital glazing technologies to produce large-format, high-precision products that meet international quality standards.

Indonesian ceramic products have been exported to numerous countries, with export values reaching USD 31 million between January and August 2025.

To further enhance the investment climate, Kemenperin has prepared several strategic industrial zones in Batang, Kendal, and Semarang, located near major ports, toll road networks, and gas infrastructure. These zones offer a range of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives for both domestic and foreign investors.

“The government continues to strengthen the competitiveness of the ceramic industry through fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, energy efficiency programs, and the implementation of Green Industry Standards. This initiative aligns with Indonesia’s commitment to achieving net-zero industrial emissions by 2050,” Taufiek added.

Taufiek also underscored the importance of global collaboration fostered by WCTF 2025 as a strategic platform for sharing best practices, building partnerships, and driving sustainable innovation.

“We invite global investors, innovators, and industry leaders to join hands with Indonesia in building a resilient, sustainable, and globally competitive ceramic industry,” he concluded.
