Press Release
Government Communication Agency (Bakom) of the Republic of Indonesia
Jakarta, April 16, 2026 – The Government has assured that national energy stocks remain secure and fuel prices (BBM) are stable. The Government also confirmed that subsidized fuel prices will not increase through the end of 2026.
This assurance was conveyed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia after reporting on developments in the energy sector to President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (April 16).
“We will seek the best possible pricing. What is certain is that we will strive to ensure prices do not exceed market levels,” said Bahlil.
He added that the Government will make every effort to keep fuel prices below market rates.
“Prices below market are certainly better, but at the very least they should be on par with market prices,” he continued.
Bahlil also stated that, following President Prabowo’s directive, the Government has taken concrete steps to safeguard national energy supply, including ensuring the availability of crude oil for domestic needs through December 2026.
“For crude oil supply, from this month through December, God willing, everything is secure. So there is no need for concern,” he said.
In addition to crude oil supply, the Government confirmed that national stocks of fuel and LPG are currently above minimum reserve levels.
According to Bahlil, this condition provides a strong foundation for maintaining the stability of domestic energy prices, particularly for subsidized fuel.
He further emphasized that the Government, under President Prabowo’s directive, has agreed not to raise subsidized fuel prices until the end of the year.
“Subsidized fuel prices will not be increased through the end of the year,” he affirmed.
On long-term energy resilience, Bahlil also reported progress in Indonesia’s energy cooperation with Russia. According to him, Russia is prepared to supply Indonesia’s crude oil needs.
“We will receive crude oil supply from Russia. The Russian side is also ready to develop key infrastructure to strengthen our national reserves and energy security,” he stated.
