Kadin Kalsel Emphasizes Corporate Compliance Through the Legal Entity Administration System

Banjarmasin – Chairwoman of the South Kalimantan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin South Kalimantan), Shinta Laksmi Dewi, emphasized the importance of strengthening corporate compliance with legal entity administrative requirements to improve corporate governance and enhance public trust.

She made the remarks while opening a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) titled "Optimizing Corporate Compliance through the Legal Entity Administration System (SABH), Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) Reporting Obligations, and Mitigating the Risk of Corporate Access Suspension" at Galaxy Hotel in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, on Thursday (July 2, 2026).

Shinta said that current global trade conditions, including the tariff policies implemented by the United States, present challenges that businesses need to anticipate. Therefore, business actors must understand regulatory developments that could affect trade activities and business sustainability.

"Through this forum, business actors are expected to gain a better understanding of their rights, obligations, and legal responsibilities so they can comply with the applicable regulations," Shinta said.

According to Shinta, some companies still establish legal entities merely to fulfill administrative requirements without fully carrying out their ongoing corporate obligations.

"Regulatory compliance is not merely a formality. Business actors must also understand the sanctions that may arise if they fail to fulfill their legal obligations," she said.

Shinta added that compliance offers numerous benefits, including greater legal certainty, stronger public confidence, and improved transparency in corporate governance. Conversely, companies that fail to comply with regulations may face a range of consequences, such as weaker legal protection, reduced transparency, and diminished credibility among the public and business partners.

"For that reason, all business actors need to understand and fulfill their obligations in accordance with regulations that have been integrated into the government's administrative system. This is essential to building corporate governance that is sound, accountable, and sustainable," Shinta concluded.
