Pontianak – The West Kalimantan Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Kalbar) held its 2026 Provincial Leadership Meeting (Rapimprov), combined with a thanksgiving event commemorating the 58th anniversary of Kadin Indonesia. The Rapimprov was held simultaneously across all provinces in Indonesia on Thursday (September 24, 2026).

Under the theme “A People-Centered Economy for a Globally Competitive Indonesia: Kadin’s Role in Accelerating MSMEs’ Contribution to West Kalimantan’s Exports,” the event served as a crucial momentum for the business community in West Kalimantan to strengthen synergy with the regional government and formulate strategic work programs for the 2026–2027 period.

The event was attended by West Kalimantan Deputy Governor Krisantus Kurniawan, members of the Kadin leadership from regencies and cities across the province, as well as representatives of various Extraordinary Members, including the Indonesian Real Estate Association (REI), Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs Association (IWAPI), Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI), the Indonesian Association of National Construction Companies (Gapeksindo), the Association of Logistics and Forwarders Indonesia (ALFI/ILFA), the Indonesian Port Management Association (APBMI), and the Indonesian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA).

In his remarks, Chairman of Kadin West Kalimantan Arya Rizqi Darsono reaffirmed Kadin Kalbar’s commitment to continuing to serve as a strategic partner to the regional government while also being an inclusive home for all business players, from large-scale entrepreneurs to MSMEs in remote areas.

“For 58 years, Kadin has served as a common home for Indonesia’s business community. At this mature stage, Kadin West Kalimantan is ready to strengthen its role as a strategic partner of the West Kalimantan Provincial Government in addressing the real challenges facing the business community,” Arya said.

On the occasion, Arya outlined several concrete achievements by Kadin West Kalimantan during the 2025–2026 period:

MSME Legalization and Financing: Kadin West Kalimantan signed a cooperation agreement with the West Kalimantan Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to facilitate the establishment of individual limited liability companies and provide free Kadin Membership Cards (KTA) for micro and small businesses. Kadin also established collaborations with PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) and Bank Mandiri to expand access to financing for MSMEs.

Competency Development: Strategic partnerships were established with Pontianak State Polytechnic (Polnep), Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak, and Bank Indonesia to enhance the competitiveness and capabilities of local business players.

Cross-Border Networks (Sosek Malindo & BIHS): Kadin strengthened West Kalimantan’s position as the front gateway of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Council, active participation for three consecutive years in the 39th Sosek Malindo Meeting in Pontianak, and involvement in the 2026 Borneo International Halal Showcase (BIHS) in Kuching.

Borneo Economic Community (BEC): Kadin West Kalimantan announced plans to hold the second Borneo Economic Community meeting on October 7, 2026, in Kuching, Malaysia. The event will bring together business players from across Borneo, including West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, and Sarawak, and will feature the signing of a direct investment agreement from Sarawak.

Kadin West Kalimantan expressed its highest appreciation to the West Kalimantan Provincial Government for the province’s economic growth, which reached 5.39 percent in 2025, above the national average.

As part of its commitment to strengthening synergy, Kadin West Kalimantan also outlined several key areas of cooperation:

Forest and Land Fire Management: The business community is ready to become an active partner of the government and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) in mitigation efforts and education in the plantation and forestry sectors, considering that forest and land fires not only damage the environment but also disrupt logistics, public health, and economic activities.

Downstream Processing of Natural Resources: Kadin fully supports efforts to strengthen regional potential through downstream processing so that the added value of natural resources can benefit local communities and businesses, rather than merely exporting raw materials.

Export Infrastructure: Kadin supports strengthening the supporting ecosystem for the Kijing International Port so that West Kalimantan’s leading commodities can directly access global markets.

Arya also shared an optimistic development at the national level regarding the revision of Law No. 1 of 1987 on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is now progressing through the House of Representatives (DPR RI) toward becoming a parliamentary initiative bill. The move is considered crucial to strengthening Kadin’s institutional position in supporting a more conducive business climate.

Through the 2026 Rapimprov, Kadin West Kalimantan established the foundation for its 2026–2027 work programs, carrying the spirit of a people-centered economy to bring West Kalimantan’s products and business players to the national and international stage.

West Kalimantan Deputy Governor Krisantus Kurniawan expressed his appreciation and delivered firm directions to the leadership and members of Kadin West Kalimantan. At the beginning of his remarks, the Deputy Governor congratulated Kadin Indonesia on its anniversary.

“First, I would like to wish Kadin a happy 58th anniversary. I wish you continued success and prosperity. Second, today I have no more doubts about Kadin,” Krisantus said.

The Deputy Governor called on Kadin West Kalimantan to strengthen internal consolidation and work in unity with the provincial as well as regency and city governments in developing the region. He emphasized the importance of Kadin taking a central role in regional economic development.

“I want Kadin West Kalimantan to consolidate and work hand in hand with the provincial and regency/city governments to develop West Kalimantan. I want Kadin to be a leading player, not a supporting player,” the Deputy Governor said.

Furthermore, Krisantus stressed the importance of realizing the aspirations of the nation’s founders in accordance with Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, under which the natural resources contained within West Kalimantan should be managed to the greatest possible extent for the prosperity and welfare of the people.

“I want Kadin to serve as a protector and driving force for companies in West Kalimantan to make a tangible contribution to improving public welfare and to utilize the region’s natural resources so that they can provide the greatest possible benefit to the people of West Kalimantan,” he added.

Responding to the commitment of support from the West Kalimantan Provincial Government, the Deputy Governor affirmed that the provincial government would oversee and fully support the regional business climate, particularly for local entrepreneurs who have a strong sense of belonging to the region.

“We will oversee this. I do not intend to differentiate between entrepreneurs from outside the region and entrepreneurs from West Kalimantan, but what I want, of course, is a sense of belonging. Local entrepreneurs certainly have greater love and concern for West Kalimantan. Therefore, I will oversee this and collaborate with Kadin to make it happen,” the Deputy Governor concluded.
