Kadin Indonesia Nilai Diplomasi Luar Negeri Buka Peluang Ekonomi di Tengah Gejolak Geopolitik Global

Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), through its Foreign Affairs Department, held a National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) under the theme “Strategizing Indonesia’s Economic Diplomacy for 2027: Navigating Geoeconomic Shifts and Unlocking Global Opportunities” at Aryaduta Menteng Hotel in Central Jakarta on Monday (October 19, 2026).

Kadin Indonesia Coordinating Vice Chairman for Foreign Affairs James T. Riady said Indonesia was well positioned in international relations. He noted that the government's efforts under President Prabowo Subianto to build relations with various global power centers had opened up opportunities for Indonesia, including in the economic sector.

During the first nearly two years of President Prabowo's administration, James said the government had worked hard to build diplomatic bridges and maintain relations with various countries and major economic blocs, including the United States, China, Russia, India, and Brazil, as well as BRICS, ASEAN, APEC, the Middle East, and Africa.

“Our relations with the major blocs are generally very good,” James said.

He added that these relationships could open up opportunities for Indonesia to tap into the global economy. One example was the development of the computing industry using advanced technologies, including NVIDIA chips, which he said were beginning to enter Indonesia.

James said the investment, worth billions of US dollars, was intended to establish computing centers, with all their output destined for export markets. He viewed this opportunity as one of the outcomes of the international relationships Indonesia had built.

“And those bridges that have been built have opened the door to virtually anything we want to pursue,” he said.

James further highlighted shifts in the global economic landscape, which is becoming increasingly centered on the Pacific region amid intensifying competition among major powers. He said this trend placed Indonesia in a strategic position to expand economic cooperation with various countries.

At the same time, the world is facing multiple challenges, ranging from geopolitical tensions, wars, and protectionism to economic fragmentation, competition among major powers, and changes in global supply chains. In this context, James emphasized the importance of Indonesia maintaining relations with various parties without compromising its independence.

He stressed that Indonesia needed to maintain an independent foreign policy while remaining open to cooperation with different countries, including those with conflicting relationships.

“We want to maintain good relations with all parties without having to become part of the conflict between one side and another. This is the position we must uphold,” James concluded.

The event was attended by Kadin Indonesia Coordinating Vice Chairman for Law and Human Rights, Facilities and Infrastructure M. Azis Syamsuddin; Vice Chairman for Organization Taufan Eko Nugroho Rotorasiko; and Vice Chairman for Marketing, Promotion, Innovation, and MSME Product Development Rifda Ammarina.

The meeting was also attended by members of Kadin Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Department leadership, including Vice Chairman for Foreign Relations Bernardino M. Vega, Vice Chairman for International Partnerships Emmanuel Lestarto Wanandi, and Vice Chairman for Multilateral Diplomacy Andi Anzhar Cakra Wijaya.
