Policy Implementation of the MCH Law

Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Arsjad Rasjid responded to the pros and cons of the Maternal and Child Welfare Law on the First Thousand Days of Life (MCH Law).

The business world understands the importance of the first 1000 days of life as a crucial momentum that determines the growth and development phase of children. Thus, Kadin appreciates the government's step in passing the Law on Maternal and Child Welfare (MCH Law) which provides opportunities for pregnant women to take maternity leave for up to 6 months.

Investment in the welfare of mothers and children in the early days of life will have an impact on the development of good quality human resources, so that it can bring long-term benefits to the nation and state. By providing adequate protection and support to pregnant women and children, we can create a healthier, smarter, and more productive generation in the future towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.

On the other hand, the impact of the MCH Law on the business world needs to be carefully considered. The business world sees that the adoption of this policy has several implementation challenges, especially related to human resource management and company performance. Thus, employers need to make adjustments in terms of workforce planning and cost management to remain sustainable.

In addition, in the implementation stage, the business world also hopes that productivity can be maintained. The continuity of business operations and business is important to encourage economic growth. Therefore, Kadin is committed to working with the government and stakeholders to ensure that the implementation of this policy continues to support business productivity and competitiveness. For this reason, Kadin Indonesia is ready to collaborate in the implementation of this policy.
