Kadin Indonesia Promotes Public-Private Collaboration for Skills and Jobs Transformation

Jakarta, October 11, 2025 – Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Novyan Bakrie has emphasized the need for stronger and more coordinated public-private collaboration to enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness amid the accelerating global economic transition.

Anindya, popularly known as Anin, made the remarks during the launch of the Indonesia Jobs and Skills Accelerator, an initiative led by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in partnership with Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC). The event was part of the broader Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2025.

In his keynote speech, Anin highlighted that Indonesia’s economy is undergoing a significant structural transformation driven by the green transition, rapid digitalization, and shifting global value chains. He stressed that such a transformation cannot be sustained by one sector alone—it requires synergy between private-sector innovation and investment, and a strong foundation of public policy, skills systems, and government support.

“Indonesia’s future economic growth will increasingly rely on deeper, more targeted collaboration between the public and private sectors. The business community has long been a driver of innovation and job creation, but to amplify its impact, we must ensure policy alignment, targeted investment in human capital development, and a strong link between industry needs and national development priorities,” said Anin.

Anin explained that the Indonesia Jobs and Skills Accelerator is a collaborative initiative designed to bring together businesses, policymakers, academia, and civil society to co-create solutions that bridge the skills gap and expand inclusive employment opportunities. Leveraging data and insights from WEF, and grounded in the local leadership of Kadin and Bappenas, the initiative aims to strengthen evidence-based policymaking and accelerate multi-stakeholder action.

“This program serves as a catalyst for nationwide skilling, reskilling, and upskilling efforts, ensuring Indonesia’s workforce remains adaptable to evolving industry demands—while also promoting inclusivity for women, persons with disabilities, and workers in the informal sector,” he added.

Anin further noted that the accelerator’s emphasis on gender equality, disability inclusion, and social equity (GEDSI) aligns with Kadin’s broader vision of fostering equitable and inclusive economic growth. By integrating Indonesia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem with visionary public policy, the initiative aspires to develop a resilient, skilled workforce ready to seize opportunities in the digital and low-carbon economy.

“The Indonesia Jobs and Skills Accelerator exemplifies how effective public-private partnerships can turn shared goals into tangible impact—driving national development and strengthening global competitiveness,” Anin concluded.

Also present at the event were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, CEO of Sintesa Group Shinta W. Kamdani, and Maliki, Deputy for Community Empowerment, Population, and Manpower at Bappenas.

The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 highlights that approximately 22% of global jobs are expected to undergo transformation within the next five years, with 170 million new jobs created and 92 million jobs displaced. The five main forces driving this shift include technological acceleration, the green transition, demographic changes, geoeconomic fragmentation, and global economic uncertainty.
