Anindya Bakrie Urges Business Leaders to Strengthen Action-Driven Economic Cooperation at the Indonesia-Africa CEO Forum

Johannesburg, South Africa - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Novyan Bakrie attended the Indonesia-Africa CEO Forum, held on the sidelines of the G20 Summit at the Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Friday (November 21, 2025) local time.

Anindya, widely known as Anin, emphasized the importance of concrete collaboration between industry players from both regions. He stressed that the forum is not merely a platform for discussion but a starting point to strengthen action-oriented and results-driven economic cooperation.

“I call on industry leaders and business actors to stand with us and support this noble effort,” Anin said.

He noted that Indonesia’s experience, along with the journey of the Bakrie Group, demonstrates that building resilient supply chains, strengthening investment in green industries, and aligning national priorities with bankable projects are key to seizing global economic momentum.

Anin also highlighted the importance of global and regional cooperation platforms in opening new market access, boosting digital trade, and promoting deeper economic integration among developing nations.

“Platforms such as the G20, B20, ASEAN, and now the Indonesia Africa CEO Forum play a crucial role in harmonizing standards, opening new markets, facilitating digital trade, and advancing South–South cooperation,” he added.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming underlined the importance of collaboration in energy, defense industries, technology, and supply chains in responding to evolving global economic dynamics.

“With collaboration, emerging economies can shape a future that is more equitable and inclusive,” the Vice President stated, as quoted from the official website.

He also welcomed the visa-free policy between Indonesia and South Africa, which he said would accelerate mobility for business actors and the public.

“With a visa-free policy, the mobility of business players, investors, and the public will become much easier, opening greater opportunities for both countries,” he concluded.

As part of the forum, Kadin Indonesia and Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) will establish the Indonesia–South Africa High-Level Business Council (ISA-HLBC). The council will serve as the main platform for policy dialogue, investment promotion, and strategic business partnerships. It is expected to align private-sector efforts with national economic goals and shared development aspirations.

The formation of the ISA-HLBC reinforces both governments’ commitment to a strong, forward-looking, and environmentally responsible economic alliance. Through structured dialogue, focused business-to-business engagement, and field visits, the ISA-HLBC will act as an effective mechanism to drive strategic initiatives, strengthen economic ties, and promote shared prosperity while reaffirming Africa’s importance as a strategic region for Indonesia’s economic engagement.

In addition to Kadin Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie, the event was attended by Chairman of Kadin Indonesia’s South Africa Bilateral Committee Clifford Wuisan and Kadin GEO Secretary General Steven Marcelino.

Also present were Sintesa Group CEO Shinta W. Kamdani, who serves as Kadin’s Vice Chair for Human Development, Culture, and Sustainable Development; AdaKami CEO Bernardino M. Vega, Kadin Vice Chair for International Relations; Freeport Indonesia CEO Tony Wenas, Kadin Vice Chair for Downstreaming; Dahana CEO Hary Irmawan; Pupuk Indonesia CEO Rahmad Pribadi; and Rukun Raharja Senior Advisor Hotasi Diosdado Nababan.
