Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, welcomed the Ambassador of Slovakia to Indonesia, Tomáš Ferko, at The Convergence Indonesia, Epicentrum Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (August 28, 2025).
The meeting marked the beginning of a dialogue to explore strategic cooperation opportunities between Indonesia and Slovakia in the fields of economy, technology, and food security.
Anindya who is familiarly known as Anin expressed that Slovakia, as a Central European country, possesses advanced technological capabilities that could support Indonesia’s national development agenda.
“We had an extensive discussion, as Slovakia is a Central European country with high-tech capabilities. We talked about technology in the energy sector and energy transition. They have companies in battery manufacturing and strong expertise in renewable energy, including geothermal,” said Anin.
He also noted that economic relations between the two countries hold great potential not only in the energy sector but also in other strategic areas.
According to Anin, Slovakia has a solid track record in the defense industry, which opens up opportunities for deeper cooperation in that sector.
“In terms of defense, Slovakia has a lot to offer. Many discussions have already begun,” Anin added.
Moreover, Anin highlighted Slovakia’s strengths in modern agricultural technology, which could help boost Indonesia’s food productivity and support national food security goals.
“Slovakia also has technology companies that can contribute to our digital economy,” he added.
Meanwhile, Slovak Ambassador Tomáš Ferko expressed his optimism regarding future cooperation between Indonesia and Slovakia.
He emphasized that the historical closeness of the two nations serves as a strong foundation for building deeper trust and collaboration.
“I’m very pleased to be here today and to explore potential partnerships in the near future, as our two nations have a historically close relationship that fosters mutual trust,” said Ambassador Tomáš.
He noted there are numerous areas open for collaboration, ranging from energy to academic and business cooperation.
“I look forward to working with leading institutions and universities, as well as participating in business conferences and delegation visits, both in Jakarta and Slovakia,” he said.
Ambassador Tomáš also mentioned that several cooperation agreements are already underway and currently being further developed by both sides.
“Recently, several MoUs and agreements were signed in the fields of energy, sustainability, and food security. These align with the Indonesian government’s priorities, and I’m glad Slovakia can contribute,” he concluded.
Also present at the meeting were members of the Kadin Indonesia leadership team, including Vice Chairman for Foreign Affairs Bernardino M. Vega, Executive Director of KADIN Indonesia Institute Mulya Amri, and Chief of Staff to the Kadin Chairman, Harya Mitra Hidayat.
