The implementation of the International Tourism Investment Forum (ITIF) 2024 is a momentum to increase investment in the sustainable tourism and creative economy (Parekraf) sector in Indonesia. This second time implementation will be held on 5-6 June 2024 at Swissotel PIK. Previously, in 2023 ITIF was held in Nusa Dua, Bali.
Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said the 2024 ITIF carries the theme "Elevating Tourism Investment for Sustainable Growth". "This platform is directed towards sustainable tourism because planet, people, and prosperity are always a reference for the development of parekraf," Sandiaga said in Jakarta, Wednesday (15/5/2024).
Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) for Parekraf, Triawan Munaf, hopes that ITIF will be able to increase foreign investment in the Indonesian parekraf sector. So that the Indonesian parekraf sector can grow and develop rapidly.
"ITIF is a collaboration between the business world and the government to attract investors to encourage faster and greater growth in the Parekraf sector. We hope that the incoming investment can continue to support the sustainable growth of the Parekraf sector," said Triawan.
Director of Promotion for the Americas and Europe, Ministry of Investment / BKPM, Sri Endang Novitasari explained that investment in the parekraf sector has a very fast recovery period. It was recorded that during the Covid-19 pandemic or around 2020, investment in the parekraf sector decreased by 35%.
Meanwhile, entering 2021, there was an increase in investment in the Indonesian parekraf sector of up to 46%. Thus, Endang assessed that investment in the parekraf sector is very promising.
"The existence of this ITIF is expected to encourage more foreign investments," said Endang.
Rizki Handayani, Deputy for Industry and Investment at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, added that ITIF 2024 will be filled with a number of side events such as roundtable sessions with several country delegations related to investment in the parekraf sector.
"There is also a roundtable related to Indonesia's potential opportunities in general where local governments that have projects will display project plans in front of potential investors," said Rizki.
