IKPLN and Industry Players Discuss Implementation of 2025–2034 RUPTL

The Association of Retired State Electricity Employees (IKPLN) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the implementation of the 2025–2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) and the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) network connection between Sumatra-Batam -Bintan (ISBB) and Sumatra-Java (ISJ) at the PLN Headquarters in Jakarta (13/11/2025).

The event was officially opened by Mrs. Arsyadani Akmala Putri and featured speakers from regulators, PLN Group executives, academics, energy industry players, and representatives of global technology companies.

Also present at the event were Feby Joko Priharto, Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Permanent Committee on Electricity Planning, who is also the President Director of PLN Nusa Daya, and Eddy Asmanto, Chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Permanent Committee on Natural Resources and the Environment, representing Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono, Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's National Planning Division.

This FGD is expected to be a concrete step in ensuring the achievement of a modern, sustainable electricity roadmap that is in line with Indonesia's vision for a greener and more integrated energy future.

PLN Distribution Director Arsyadany Ghana Akmalaputri emphasised that the distribution network plays a crucial role in the success of the RUPTL. He stated that the HVDC interconnection project is a crucial part of the 2025–2034 RUPTL, which will form the basis of the future National Electricity System, with a focus on three main areas, including:

  1. The distribution network as a determinant of service reliability to customers. Integration between generation and transmission must ensure the quality and sustainability of electricity supply at the distribution level.
  2. The readiness of human resources (HR) and technology is key to success. Improving employee competence, particularly in modern network technology, is essential to managing an increasingly integrated and sophisticated network.
  3. The need for collaboration between units within the PLN Group, including generation, transmission, distribution, and subsidiaries, to accelerate the implementation of HVDC and RUPTL projects. This implementation requires cooperation from all parties so that PLN can move forward in a unified manner.

This focus group discussion (FGD) served as a forum for collaboration between various related parties, including PLN Nusantara Power, Indonesia Power, PLN Engineering, PLN Icon Plus, Siemens Energy, LS Cable & System, Omexom-Vinci, and other industry players. In this forum, participants obtained information on technical aspects, implementation challenges, and plans to accelerate the HVDC interconnection project. This activity demonstrates PLN's strong commitment to providing more reliable, efficient, and integrated electricity services, in line with the objectives outlined in the latest RUPTL.

The transformation of the national electricity system is also expected to result in improved electricity supply reliability, accelerated absorption of New and Renewable Energy (EBT), increased overall system efficiency, and strengthened national energy security.
