Indonesia Seeks to Position Itself as a Key Player in the Global Supply Chain at WEF 2026

Jakarta – Indonesia is set to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, scheduled for January 19–23, 2026. At the event, a number of government leaders will be present to outline Indonesia’s economic conditions and investment opportunities.

Deputy for Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming / BKPM, Nurul Ichwan, said Indonesia’s presence at the WEF is important given the global perception that the country has strong potential as an investment destination.

“This is because we have abundant natural resources, our economy continues to grow relatively steadily, our political environment is stable, and we also have human resources supported by a demographic bonus whose quality we continue to improve,” Nurul said during a press conference at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, on Friday (January 9, 2026).

The WEF 2026 will carry the theme Spirit of Dialogue, and Indonesia will position itself as an integral part of the global supply chain, supported by a strong and conducive investment ecosystem.

“In particular, this is based on our natural resource wealth, which is expected to become key raw material for future economic development,” he added.

At the same event, Vice Chairman for Foreign Relations of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), Bernardino M. Vega, emphasized the importance of Indonesia’s participation in a forum attended by more than 3,000 major global companies from 130 countries.

“It is therefore important for Indonesia to be present at this event to engage, collaborate, hold discussions, and understand the trends being observed by the global community,” Bernardino said.

Beyond assessing future conditions, WEF 2026 is also considered crucial for determining how Indonesia should position its business model, both in terms of attracting investment and boosting trade.

According to Bernardino, WEF 2026 is particularly important as it provides insights into shifts in the global geopolitical landscape.

“This also offers valuable perspective for our business community on what is actually happening in the wider world and how we should respond to it,” he concluded.
