The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) continues to encourage the development of regional economic potential through the Kadin Impact Award (KIA). With the theme "One Kadin Builds the Nation", KIA is a form of Kadin Indonesia's appreciation to Provincial, Regency and City Kadins that have successfully developed empowerment programmes that have a positive social and economic impact. In this event, Kadin Indonesia conducted a series of assessments on 20 Regional Kadin programmes that significantly had a positive impact on their respective regions.
Continuing the KIA judging process, Kadin Indonesia visited Kadin Balikpapan, which presents the bidfish.id programme as an innovation in assisting fishermen to a wider market by utilising digital technology. The bidfish.id platform is a programme initiative that provides access for fishermen to connect with consumers directly.
The low awareness of fishermen on exchange rate issues, the long fisheries supply chain, and the lack of application of digital technology, have encouraged Kadin Balikpapan to innovate to present this programme as a solution for access and information for fishermen. With wider market access and better product selling prices through an online fish auction system, bidfish.id is expected to increase efficiency, cut the fish supply chain to be shorter, and also accelerate the process of buying and selling fish through the application of digital technology.
Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Arsjad Rasjid, appreciated Kadin Balikpapan's programme that can bring positive impacts and improve the welfare of fishermen. "Kadin Balikpapan's programme is one of the programmes that can bring positive impacts through coaching for fishermen. Opening access and assistance include business counselling, education and pattern training, synergy with local government, and providing a marketing system. Bidfish.id is not just a fish auction programme, but an innovative solution that brings sustainability and prosperity to fishermen, coastal communities, and abundant marine resources," said Arsjad.
Not only does the programme lift fishermen's income by 20% and the welfare of coastal communities in 23 areas in East Kalimantan, it also promises to increase the quality and quantity of fishery products by up to 280 Tonnes of fish ready to be auctioned online. With the active participation of more than 300 fishermen, the programme opens the door to the use of more advanced technology, improves the efficiency of fish distribution, and supports the sustainable growth of the blue economy.
