Kadin and BANI Agree to Strengthen Dispute Resolution for MSMEs Through Mediation with Minimal Costs

Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) welcomed a courtesy visit from the Indonesian National Board of Arbitration (BANI) at Menara Kadin Indonesia, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

The meeting discussed several strategic plans for enhancing dispute resolution in business, including an upcoming international symposium and efforts to strengthen mediation mechanisms for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia.

The audience was attended by Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie, Vice Chairman for Legal Affairs, Human Rights, and Infrastructure Azis Syamsuddin, and BANI Chairman Anangga W. Roosdiono.

Azis Syamsuddin expressed Kadin’s strong support for collaboration with BANI, especially regarding the planned International Symposium on Arbitration, to be held on July 24, 2025, in Jakarta.

“Kadin welcomes this collaboration to discuss the upcoming international symposium scheduled for July 24, 2025, in Jakarta. The focus will be on the enforcement of BANI arbitration awards, both institutionally and independently, to ensure smoother execution,” said Azis.

He highlighted the importance of support from the Supreme Court of Indonesia to facilitate the enforcement of arbitral decisions within the country.

Kadin and BANI also agreed to strengthen dispute resolution frameworks at the regional level, particularly to benefit MSMEs.

“We agreed to collaborate in resolving disputes involving MSMEs. There is a mechanism known as IMAC (International Mediation and Arbitration Center), a body specializing in mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution. With minimal costs, this offers an accessible avenue for MSMEs to resolve conflicts,” Azis explained.

He further stated that BANI will be involved in various Kadin activities across provinces, both online and offline.

Meanwhile, BANI Chairman Anangga W. Roosdiono shared insights on the current landscape of arbitration in Indonesia and the challenges faced in the enforcement of awards, especially those from international arbitration.

“We discussed the future of arbitration in Indonesia. BANI will also host an international seminar, and we hope Kadin Chairman Anindya Bakrie will deliver a keynote speech. BANI currently holds a strong reputation in the international arbitration community,” said Anangga.

He emphasized the need to remove any barriers to the execution of arbitration awards in Indonesia:

“Arbitration awards should not face any obstacles, particularly international ones, as arbitration is meant to resolve disputes amicably. Both parties should accept the outcomes,” Anangga asserted.
