The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Vocational & Certification Division and Kadin PUPR & Infrastructure Division in collaboration with the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP), and the Construction Services Development Institute (LPJK) determine strategic steps to improve competence and professionalism for the construction service community. To face the challenges ahead, people working in the construction sector must be certified.
Vice Chairman of Kadin for Vocational and Certification, Adi Mahfudz Wuhadji, said that vocational training programmes in the construction sector must be in accordance with the latest needs, quality and competitiveness. In addition, professional certification is important to increase superior Human Resources (HR) that are competitive both nationally and globally.
"Professional Certification provides certainty of competency standardisation and differentiation for skilled and competent workers in order to fulfil superior human resources to strengthen the nation's competitiveness in the world competition," Adi said in his presentation at Kadin's Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with BNSP and LPJK (7/3/2024).
According to the Vice Chairman of Kadin for PUPR & Infrastructure, Insannul Kamil, the need for construction sector services also needs to keep up with the flow of technological and information advances that have now faced all economic and business sectors.
"The current situation is very different from what happened 10 or 15 years ago, where big companies would dominate over small companies. Today, the most decisive factor is which company can adapt and move very quickly, (the company) will beat the company that runs slower," he said.
Insannul also said that the readiness of human resources in the construction services sector who have specialised and educated skills is key in achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045.
On the same occasion, LPJK Field I Manager, Ir. Ludy Eqbal Almuhamadi, comprehensively explained the implementation of competency-based job training, especially in the construction sector involving Job Training Institutions and Professional Certification Bodies. Then, the material presentation was ended by the Licensing and Accreditation Coordinator of the Directorate of Vocational Training Institutional Development, Fitroh A. Malik, who explained the accreditation process of the Job Training Institution (LPK).
This FGD activity ended with the signing of a Pact of Understanding containing important points from the discussion. "It is hoped that the results of this discussion can become a common reference in determining innovative steps that can be taken by all parties, especially related to the establishment of Vocational Training Institutions (LPK) that focus on the construction sector," concluded Asep Rinda.
