Kadin Indonesia and Poland Cooperate to Promote Science and Technology Development to Realise the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045

The development of efficient, modern, and inclusive education, technology, and science is key to achieving Indonesia's goal of becoming a prosperous and developed country in line with the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045. In this regard, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, in collaboration with the Ed-Tech Poland Foundation and the Embassy of Poland, organised the Symposium "The Role of EdTech and Science in the Golden Indonesia 2045" and Business-to-Business (B2B) Meetings. The international symposium will be attended by 75 attendees consisting of decision-makers, academics and industry players.

The event, initiated by Kadin Indonesia, aims to provide a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among various stakeholders, such as industry leaders, research institutions, and universities. Not only that, the symposium also creates opportunities for collaboration, especially in the fields of education, technology, and science to realise the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Indonesia, Beata Stoczyńska, welcomed the symposium with open arms to enable new collaborations. "We welcome this inclusive multi-stakeholder collaborative symposium as a forum that enables meetings and information exchange between decision-makers, educators, and business investors. This is also necessary to build a mutually beneficial relationship between Indonesia and Poland," he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Makarim, hopes that through this symposium Indonesia can take lessons from Poland in technology development to be applied according to the local context. "We appreciate this symposium initiative in the hope of exploring best practices and strategies that can create further collaboration in order to develop ed-tech and qualified ed-tech talents in Indonesia," said Nadiem.

Heru Dewanto, Vice Chairman of Education and Culture at Kadin Indonesia, said the symposium is a forum for knowledge exchange and collaboration among industry leaders, research institutions and universities in terms of advancing education, technology and science. "The symposium is also designed to facilitate face-to-face interaction for business innovators, decision-makers, and educators to advance mutually beneficial relations between Indonesia and Poland. Hopefully, by organising this symposium, Indonesia can create spaces for collaboration to realise the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045," he said.

Indonesia is currently still facing a number of challenges to break free from the middle income trap and realise the goal of a Golden Indonesia 2045, particularly related to the quality of human resources. This low level of literacy has an impact on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) assessment score which is lower than other ASEAN countries. Indonesia is still ranked 71st with a score of 0.54.

"Although the number of students using technology and the internet is increasing, Indonesia's literacy rate is still relatively low. This is important to note as the quality of an educated workforce plays a key role in the rapid development of a country. This symposium is expected to encourage collaboration and create an effective networking platform to achieve common goals in the education sector," said Heru.

On the other hand, Poland is the country with the fastest development rate over the past two decades. This is reflected in Poland's PISA score, which ranks 11th out of the first 20 countries with advanced science skills. When viewed from the Human Capital Index data, Poland has passed the world average.
