Tembilahan, Riau - The Chairman of the Riau Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Masuri, has expressed strong support for the planned operation of the Roro vessel KMP Berembang, which will serve the route between Tembilahan, Indragiri Hilir Regency (Inhil), and Batam.

According to Masuri, the initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing interregional connectivity and accelerating economic growth in coastal areas.

“The opening of the Tembilahan-Batam Roro route is a strategic move that aligns with the national development vision, particularly in realizing interregional connectivity,” Masuri stated on Monday (14 July 2025).

He emphasized that the new route is not only about transportation but also about unlocking economic opportunities between islands.

“Indragiri Hilir Regency boasts a wide range of superior commodities. The operation of KMP Berembang is expected to bring a significant economic impact to the local community,” Masuri added.

He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between local governments and business stakeholders in supporting regional connectivity and economic development.

“I truly appreciate the efforts of the Inhil regional government and all parties involved in bringing the Roro vessel to the region. This is a concrete step toward improving the movement of people and goods between islands,” he said.

Masuri expressed his hope that the Tembilahan-Batam Roro vessel can begin operations soon and serve as a key momentum to strengthen the economy and logistics distribution system across Riau’s coastal regions and beyond.
