Medan - The North Sumatra Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Sumut) is exploring a strategic partnership with Air Force Sector Command I (Kosek I) Medan to strengthen collaboration in economic development, public welfare, and business security. The meeting took place on Wednesday (July 23, 2025) at the Kosek I Medan Headquarters in North Sumatra.
This meeting served as a platform for dialogue between Kadin Sumut and the Indonesian Air Force to seek concrete solutions to economic and social challenges, particularly in Medan and its surrounding areas.
Firsal Dida Mutyara, Chairman of Kadin Sumut, emphasized Kadin’s strategic role as a government partner in promoting local economic growth.
“We hope for collaboration in the areas of economic development, business security, and support for community creativity, especially in advancing MSMEs,” said Dida.
He also highlighted the importance of creating a safe environment for entrepreneurs and workers, noting that North Sumatra is a major industrial province.
“Many business owners report that nighttime crime is a significant concern for night-shift workers, who are forced to take extra precautions. We hope this collaboration will help establish a safer environment so businesses can remain productive,” Dida added.
Yudha Johansyah, Vice Chair Coordinator for Organizational Affairs, Legal, and Communications at Kadin Sumut, expressed optimism that this partnership could also strengthen the creative and technology sectors.
“We believe this collaboration can bring substantial benefits to the community. We’re even exploring educational initiatives like drone racing events to raise awareness about aviation regulations,” he said.
Isfan F. Fachruddin, Vice Chair Coordinator for Human Capital, Research & Innovation, stressed the importance of regulating technologies like drones in accordance with air safety regulations.
“Coordination with Kosek is essential to ensure innovation remains within safe operational zones,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Martono Anggusti, Acting Vice Chair Coordinator for Maritime, Investment, and International Affairs, presented one of Kadin Sumut’s flagship programs: Kampoeng Jamu (Herbal Medicine Village), which supports household-level economic empowerment.
“We’ve assisted traditional herbal drink vendors in Mabar Hilir by helping them access industrial zones for vending. The results have been significantly better than before,” he explained.
This program was shared with Kosek I Medan as a model for community empowerment that could be expanded throughout North Sumatra.
“We hope this potential can be extended to benefit wider communities,” Martono affirmed.
Santri Sinaga, Head of Kadin Sumut’s Legal, Defense, and Security Relations Body, also proposed possible cooperation with the Indonesian Air Force Cooperative Center (Puskopau), including training programs for the Army Wives Association (Persit).
“There are many economic programs initiated by President Prabowo, and Kadin—as a strategic partner—can help bridge the implementation on the ground,” Santri said.
Commander of Kosek I Medan, Air Commodore Imam Subekti, expressed his readiness to work together to support business security and public order.
“We fully support initiatives aimed at ensuring the safety of workers and factory employees from crime. This is a shared concern in creating a secure working environment,” he stated.
Kadin and Kosek I also agreed on the potential for collaboration on a range of programs, including the development of the Koperasi Merah Putih (Red and White Cooperative), barista training, the Free Nutritious Meal Service Unit (SPPG MBG), and technological training, such as the use of drones in business sectors.
For your information, the meeting was also attended by Kadin Sumut’s Executive Director, Diaz Wardianto WK.
