Kadin Sumatera Utara Inaugurates Three SPPG MBG Units, Boosting Business Ecosystems and Creating New Jobs

Medan – The North Sumatra Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Sumut) inaugurated three Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) under the Kadin North Sumatra Vocational Training and Development Foundation on Thursday (February 5, 2026).

The three SPPG units are located in Medan Amplas, Limau Mungkur in Binjai City, and Aek Buaton in Padang Lawas Regency.

Head of the MBG Gotong Royong Task Force of Kadin Indonesia, Chandra Tirta Wijaya, stated that Kadin Indonesia consistently encourages the active participation of regional entrepreneurs in supporting the MBG program through the establishment of professional and sustainable SPPG kitchens.

“Kadin Indonesia views MBG as a strategic opportunity to build a new business ecosystem. SPPG is not merely a production kitchen but also an economic empowerment center that creates jobs and enhances the capacity of local business actors,” said Chandra.

He noted that the collaboration between Kadin Indonesia and Kadin North Sumatra serves as a concrete example of private-sector synergy in supporting government programs and expressed hope that the SPPG model implemented in North Sumatra can be replicated in other regions.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Kadin North Sumatra Firsal Dida Mutyara said the inauguration of the three SPPG units reflects the province’s commitment to supporting the MBG program while strengthening the local economy.

“The SPPG units inaugurated today are not merely facilities for producing nutritious meals, but also symbols of community economic strength built on entrepreneurship and innovation,” he said.

Firsal added that the MBG kitchens are expected to become centers for economic development, improve community welfare, and create new employment opportunities. He also expressed appreciation for the dedication of the MBG teams that contributed to the realization of the program.

“We hope the MBG program will continue to grow and become one of the best flagship programs in Indonesia, delivering tangible benefits to the community,” he added.

Furthermore, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto emphasized that the MBG program must generate dual impacts, not only in improving public health but also in boosting regional economies.

“The MBG program should not be viewed solely as a social program; it must also serve as a driver of local economic growth. SPPG units should involve MSMEs, farmers, and local workers so that the benefits are directly felt by the community,” Bima concluded.

Also present at the inauguration were Kadin Regional Coordinator for the MBG Gotong Royong Task Force Desi Arianti, Executive Director of Kadin North Sumatra Diaz Wardianto, Head of SPPG Medan Region Donald Simanjuntak, and Head of SPPG Medan Amplas Qory.
