Kadin Ready to Boost Economic Activity, Support Clean Energy Transition, and Involve Local Entrepreneurs in Waste-to-Energy Projects

Jakarta - Anindya Novyan Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), reaffirmed Kadin’s commitment to supporting the government’s strategic programs, ranging from boosting economic circulation to advancing clean energy transition.

Anindya, popularly known as “Anin,” made the remarks following a hybrid meeting with Chairul Tanjung, Chairman of the Kadin Indonesia Business Council, and Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo, Chairman of Kadin Indonesia’s Advisory Board, held at the Kadin Tower in South Jakarta on Tuesday (22/10/2025).

“The core idea is that all of this supports government programs aimed at increasing economic circulation, which is already visible through enhanced liquidity,” Anin said.

However, Anin emphasized the need to strengthen business actors to ensure more equitable economic growth, including in regional areas. During the meeting, Kadin highlighted several key agendas, including foreign trade, foreign investment growth, and oversight of government programs such as the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) initiative and affordable housing development.

Additionally, the presence of Advisory Board member and Minister/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, enriched the discussion, particularly regarding the development of the creative industry involving the younger generation.

“The focus is on how to drive all of this to engage Gen Z, especially with the creative ideas brought forward by Mr. Teuku Riefky Harsya,” Anin explained.

Regarding the government’s plan to achieve energy self-sufficiency, Kadin welcomed the initiative. According to Anin, efforts to increase oil and gas production (lifting) and electrification are part of the solutions discussed. He also highlighted the target of building 100 megawatts of solar power plants (PLTS), as set by President Prabowo, as a key area of Kadin’s attention.

“We also discussed Waste to Energy (WTE) projects, where we want to truly reduce waste, increase energy output, and ensure local players are actively involved,” he said.

“For new and renewable energy, we fully support it because the technology is now available, and Indonesia is indeed a paradise for new and renewable energy,” Anin concluded.

The meeting was attended by Kadin Indonesia board members, including Carmelita Hartoto (Deputy Chairman for Infrastructure and Regional Development), Bobby Gafur Umar (Deputy Chairman for Investment, Downstreaming, Energy, and Environment), Juan Permata Adoe (Deputy Chairman for Export Development), M. Azis Syamsuddin (Deputy Chairman for Law, Human Rights, and Facilities/Infrastructure), Franky O. Widjaja (Deputy Chairman for Economy), and Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Deputy Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Advisory Board).
