Kadin Sulawesi Tenggara Holds Low-Cost Food Program Ahead of Ramadan, Provides Staple Goods Below Market Prices

KENDARI — The Kadin Sulawesi Tenggara organized a Low-Cost Food Movement (GPM) at the former MTQ parking area in Kendari City for two days, 13–14 February 2026.

The program provided a variety of staple goods at prices lower than market rates to help residents meet their daily needs, particularly ahead of the Ramadan season.

Coordinating Vice Chair for Legal Affairs, Human Rights, and Infrastructure of Kadin Indonesia, M. Azis Syamsuddin, expressed appreciation for the initiative carried out by Kadin Southeast Sulawesi.

Azis explained that the activity represents the implementation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Kadin and the central government—including the Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Nutrition Agency, and the Ministry of Agriculture—to strengthen food security while assisting communities.

“We welcome the event organized by Mr. Anton Timbang (Chairman of Kadin Southeast Sulawesi). This initiative is also aligned with the government programs of President Prabowo Subianto and the direction of Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Bakrie to drive economic activity while supporting the public,” Azis said on Friday (13/02/2026) in Kendari.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Kadin Southeast Sulawesi Anton Timbang stated that the Low-Cost Food Movement is a routine organizational program aimed at providing tangible assistance to the community while helping curb regional inflation.

“As we see today, we are launching the low-cost food movement starting today and continuing tomorrow. This has become a regular program of Kadin Southeast Sulawesi. We are responding directly to inflationary pressures in the region by helping the community,” Anton said.

He also expressed appreciation to the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government for supporting the implementation of the program. According to Anton, the initiative will not only be held in Kendari but will also take place in several other areas, including Kolaka and Baubau.

“We thank the Governor for supporting our preparations for the GPM, both in Kendari today, followed by Kolaka, and later concluding in Baubau. This is a routine activity, especially ahead of Ramadan,” he added.

Anton further explained that approximately 3,000 packages for each staple item were prepared per day during the two-day program. Through subsidies provided by Kadin Southeast Sulawesi, staple food prices were significantly lower than market rates, including SPHP rice (5 kg) at Rp55,000, sugar at Rp13,000 per kilogram, cooking oil at Rp14,000 per liter, and eggs at Rp55,000 per tray.

A total of 24 MSME tenants also participated by supplying staple goods and various food products, creating opportunities for local businesses to increase sales and expand market reach.

Also attending the event was Kadin Indonesia Vice Chair for the Kalimantan Region Andi Yuslim Patawari.
