President Prabowo Subianto received Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, who also serves as Head of the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara), Rosan Roeslani, along with several members of the Red and White Cabinet at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (March 25, 2026).

The meeting focused on accelerating the implementation of Waste-to-Energy (WTE) projects across various regions in Indonesia.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that Rosan reported on the progress of the WTE program nationwide, particularly in major and densely populated cities such as Jakarta, Tangerang, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Medan, Bali, and others.

According to the Cabinet Secretary, the WTE program is expected to serve as a strategic solution to Indonesia’s long-standing waste management challenges, while also contributing to the development of sustainable alternative energy sources.

He further emphasized that President Prabowo has called for swift and integrated action from the central government to address waste issues in the regions.

“The President wants the central government to immediately manage waste that has long been poorly handled in various regions—so it can be cleared, eliminated, and converted into energy, particularly electricity,” Teddy noted.

This initiative underscores the government’s policy direction to develop a modern, technology-based waste management system, while strengthening national energy security through environmentally friendly domestic resources.

With an integrated downstreaming approach, the Waste-to-Energy program is expected not only to address environmental challenges but also to create new economic opportunities, generate employment, and guide Indonesian cities toward a cleaner and more sustainable future.
