Davos, Switzerland - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto was among the world leaders who signed the Board of Peace Charter on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in Davos, Switzerland. The signing marked the commencement of operations of the Board of Peace (BoP) as a newly established international body tasked with overseeing the transition, stabilization, and post-conflict reconstruction of Gaza.
President Prabowo’s participation in the signing reflects Indonesia’s strong commitment to playing an active role in maintaining global order and promoting the peaceful resolution of international conflicts, in line with the mandate of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Board of Peace is an international body initiated by United States President Donald Trump to oversee the administration, stabilization, and reconstruction of Gaza during the post-conflict transitional period. Its establishment forms part of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict (20-Point Roadmap) and has received endorsement from the United Nations Security Council through Resolution 2803 (2025). The resolution also references the creation of a technocratic and non-political governance structure in Gaza, namely the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).
Under its core mandate, the Board of Peace is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the ceasefire, security stabilization, and the reconstruction process in Gaza. In addition, the BoP is tasked with restoring civil governance and ensuring a transition toward sustainable peace in the region. Membership of the Board of Peace consists of countries directly invited by the Chairman, represented at the level of Heads of State or Heads of Government.
For Indonesia, participation in the Board of Peace carries strategic significance. Indonesia’s involvement is intended to ensure that Gaza’s transition process remains aligned with the two-state solution, and does not evolve into a permanent arrangement that undermines the rights of the Palestinian people.
Through this forum, Indonesia will actively articulate its principled positions on the cessation of violence, protection of civilians, humanitarian access, and the restoration of Palestinian civil governance. Indonesia’s presence is also expected to serve as a moral and political counterbalance, ensuring that the reconstruction process proceeds in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions.
“I believe this is a historic moment—truly a historic opportunity. This is a real chance to achieve peace in Gaza,” the President told members of the media following the signing ceremony.
The signing of the Board of Peace Charter by President Prabowo further underscores Indonesia’s global leadership as a nation that consistently upholds the values of peace, justice, and humanity. This step strengthens Indonesia’s position as an active partner in international diplomacy and as a key voice in efforts to maintain global stability and order.
