Hosted by ISF, President Joko Widodo and Coordinating Minister Luhut to Host World Leaders

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B. Pandjaitan said Indonesia, as one of the world's economic centres, has the potential to become a climate superpower. Therefore, Indonesia must show leadership in terms of clean energy transition, carbon sequestration, and green economy.

"Indonesia's economic and geopolitical leadership in the region, as well as the presence of abundant resources, ranging from 'critical minerals' such as nickel and tin, to the vast tropical forests, position Indonesia strategically to accelerate sustainable practices and global decarbonisation efforts," said Luhut, in Jakarta, Friday (04-08-2023).

In this regard, Luhut is scheduled to open the Indonesia Sustainability Forum (ISF) event titled "Pursuing Sustainable and Inclusive Growth", on 7-8 September 2023 through the delivery of a keynote speech with the big theme of Growth and Sustainability which will pave the way for Indonesia to achieve the vision of a Golden Indonesia in 2045.

President Joko Widodo is scheduled to attend the ISF Gala Dinner with world leaders, business people and experts on international and domestic sustainability issues.

Meanwhile, Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr will be one of the speakers at the ISF event. Other world figures scheduled to attend are Energy Expert and First Dean of Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability Arun Majumdar, CEO of BloombergNEF (BNEF) Jon Moore, and Former Managing Director of Development of Policy and Partnerships of the World Bank, Mari Elka Pangestu.

As is known, sustainability or the issue of sustainability in state and economic governance has become a necessity for the Indonesian government. Indonesia as an important actor in the global agenda of Climate Change and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), has integrated sustainability and environmental protection as part of the national development agenda.

In addition, many businesses and corporations have realised the considerable long-term potential of promoting a green economy.

ISF will be the first official and grand international event in Indonesia that will highlight the issue of sustainability. Speakers will engage in constructive dialogue determined to present solutions to encourage decarbonisation efforts, green economy transition, and conservation of environmental ecosystems and biodiversity.
