Kadin’s Gotong Royong MBG Nutrition Service Unit Launched in Deli Serdang, Set to Serve Thousands of Beneficiaries

Deli Serdang - The Gotong Royong Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) initiated by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) continues to expand the reach of its community nutrition program.

Most recently, the Gotong Royong SPPG MBG Kadin Indonesia has officially been established in Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province.

This initiative forms part of the national MBG program, which aims to provide free, healthy, and nutritious meals to communities in need, particularly children and vulnerable groups living around the SPPG facilities.

Regional Coordinator of the MBG Gotong Royong Task Force of Kadin Indonesia, Desi Arianti, stated that the SPPG MBG Gotong Royong Kadin facility in Deli Serdang is scheduled to commence operations on January 20, 2026, after successfully passing the assessment conducted by the National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional/BNG).

“They have just passed the BGN survey and have been declared eligible to become a BGN partner. The only remaining step is the appointment of the SPPG head,” Desi said on Thursday (January 8, 2026).

Desi explained that the SPPG in Deli Serdang is part of Kadin Indonesia’s broader national target to develop MBG kitchens across the country. Kadin aims to establish up to 1,000 MBG kitchens nationwide, with 500 agglomeration kitchens targeted to be fully operational between January and February 2026.

“Our target is one thousand kitchens. This is one of the 500 agglomeration kitchens that are already underway within Kadin. By January and February, all 500 of these kitchens are expected to be fully operational,” Desi explained.

She further noted that the SPPG MBG Gotong Royong Kadin kitchens are divided into two categories: regular agglomeration kitchens and kitchens serving 3T areas (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions). Kadin’s agglomeration kitchens have larger service capacities and adhere to strict operational standards.

“Agglomeration kitchens are Kadin’s regular kitchens. In terms of beneficiaries, these kitchens can serve up to 3,000 people if they are staffed by professional chefs. All Kadin SPPG units are required to have professional chefs, which means we are ready and capable of serving up to 3,000 beneficiaries,” Desi said.

Looking ahead, Desi expressed hope that the establishment of the SPPG MBG kitchen in Percut Sei Tuan would deliver tangible benefits to the surrounding community. In accordance with existing regulations, each SPPG kitchen serves beneficiaries within a maximum radius of five kilometers from its location.

“Our hope is that this kitchen in Deli Serdang will truly benefit the local community by providing MBG in the area. Most importantly, we hope it will help improve the nutritional status of children in the Percut Sei Tuan area,” Desi concluded.
