Kadin Accelerates Free Nutritious Meal Pilot Project, Meets with Head of the Badan Gizi Nasional to Launch 1,000 Nutrition Service Units

Jakarta – The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, reaffirmed the business sector’s commitment to realizing one of the quick-win programs, namely the Free Nutritious Meal (Makan Bergizi Gratis, MBG) Mutual Cooperation initiative led by Kadin Indonesia.

Anin, as he is familiarly known, conveyed this during a meeting with the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional, BGN), Dadan Hindayana, at the Office of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, South Jakarta, on Monday (June 16, 2025).

Anin was accompanied by the Head of the MBG SPPG Task Force at Kadin Indonesia, Handojo Selamet Muljadi.

During the meeting, Anin reported on Kadin’s progress in supporting the implementation of the Nutritious Kitchen or Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi, SPPG).

“We provided an update and reported on the development of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Mutual Cooperation program by Kadin, which has received tremendous enthusiasm. We discussed Kadin’s intention to participate in 1,000 SPPG sites, starting with a pilot project,” Anin said.

He emphasized that this initiative not only strengthens national nutritional resilience but also contributes to community empowerment and job creation.

“This initiative clearly supports community empowerment from the business sector’s side, creates employment opportunities, and most importantly, secures the future of our next generation,” Anin stated.

Anin added that Kadin aims to launch the pilot project before August 17, 2025, complete with a comprehensive guideline book to be further developed to reach Kadin branches at the provincial, city, and even international stakeholder levels.

Regarding challenges in the food and nutrition sector, Anin acknowledged that BGN’s effort to establish 30,000 SPPG kitchens is a significant step that requires broad support.

“The task of reaching 30,000 SPPG sites is no small feat and appears to be on track, which will benefit more than 80 million children, breastfeeding mothers, and pregnant women. Therefore, Kadin will certainly assist in any way we can, while complying with regulations and good governance,” Anin affirmed.

He underscored that Kadin would mobilize the strength of the business community to accelerate the development of nutritious kitchens, including involving MSMEs in financing aspects.

Meanwhile, BGN Head Dadan Hindayana warmly welcomed the strategic contribution of the business sector in supporting this national priority program.

“I see Kadin as an important part of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, because, essentially, the key to MBG’s success lies in three factors: first, budget; second, human resources; and third, infrastructure,” Dadan explained.

According to him, Kadin’s role is crucial in building infrastructure and fulfilling the supply chain needs for nutritious food, which will grow alongside the increasing demand driven by the MBG program.

“With the Free Nutritious Meal program, demand is created, new needs arise, and a new market emerges, which means a different supply chain is required than usual. I believe Kadin’s role in this regard is very important,” he said.

He also appreciated Kadin’s initiative in forming a special team to manage the development and accreditation of SPPG kitchens independently.

“I believe this will ease BGN’s duties, as the curation and accreditation will be conducted internally by Kadin members, and we will simply receive the results. So, I welcome Kadin’s role in this matter,” Dadan concluded.
