Dukung Peran Pelaku Usaha dalam Pengurangan Risiko Bencana, Kadin Indonesia bermitra dengan USAID KUAT

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) continues to improve the capacity of its members and other business actors in disaster risk reduction. In line with this, Kadin Indonesia officially started its partnership with USAID KUAT (Urban Community for Resilient Action) at Kadin Indonesia's headquarters in Jakarta on 31 October 2023. This partnership is also a form of Kadin Indonesia's effort to support the role of business institutions in following up Law No. 24/2007 on Disaster Management.

The partnership is designed to be implemented for 36 months until March 2026, with activities focussing on competency building for businesses to increase awareness, competency and coordination between the public and private sectors in disaster risk reduction especially in the areas of DKI Jakarta, Bogor Regency and Tangerang Regency.

The implementation of the partnership between Kadin Indonesia and USAID KUAT will cover three main areas, namely:
1. Risk planning to identify and reduce disaster risks;
2. Preparedness to help develop disaster response plans; and
3. Post-disaster recovery.

In her speech, Suryani Motik, Vice Chairperson of Kadin Indonesia for Social and Disaster Management, expressed Kadin's support to encourage businesses to realise disaster resilient communities. "So far, business institutions have a strategic role in every post-disaster event. Hopefully, through the Kadin - USAID KUAT collaboration, businesses can increase their capacity to understand their potential so that they can also contribute to disaster risk reduction," said Suryani.

USAID KUAT is a programme to support the reduction of fatalities, injuries, property losses, and overall social and economic disruption due to the threat of natural disasters in urban and sub-urban areas with working areas in DKI Jakarta, Bogor Regency, and Tangerang Regency. The programme is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Miyamoto International, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) and in partnership with KADIN (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), BPBD DKI Jakarta, BPBD Tangerang District, BPBD Bogor District, Jakarta DRR Forum, Tangerang District DRR Forum, LPBI NU West Java, and Yayasan Skala Indonesia.
