Witnessed by President Prabowo, Kadin Indonesia and MEDEF Launch France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council in Paris

Paris, France - The Kamar Dagang dan Industri (Kadin) Indonesia and Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF) officially launched the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council (FI-HLBC) during the 2026 Indonesia-France CEO Forum, held in conjunction with the state visit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to Paris on Thursday (28/5/2026). The event took place at Hôtel de Marigny, part of the Palais de l'Élysée estate.

President Prabowo welcomed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation through the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP). The Head of State also expressed appreciation for the support of French President Emmanuel Macron in advancing investment and economic cooperation between the two countries, including the establishment of the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council, which is expected to further strengthen business relations between Indonesia and France.

“I believe this is very important, and we are very pleased to see the continued participation and presence of French companies in the Indonesian economy. France, as a leader in Europe, will continue to play a highly important role in the Southeast Asian region,” President Prabowo said, as quoted from the official website of the Indonesian Presidency.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Anindya Novyan Bakrie said the establishment of the FI-HLBC marks a strategic step toward strengthening trade and investment relations between Indonesia and France.

“Earlier today, we signed a cooperation agreement with MEDEF. We agreed to establish a High-Level Business Council between France and Indonesia. In the first quarter of this year alone, bilateral trade between the two countries increased to US$1 billion. This is extraordinary growth, and I believe this is only the beginning,” said Anindya, who is commonly known as Anin.

Anin added that the cooperation being developed focuses not only on increasing trade and investment, but also on investments that create tangible impacts on job creation and the enhancement of human capital quality.

“We also discussed vocational studies, human resource capacity building, and tourism. Both Indonesian and French tourism sectors possess tremendous appeal,” Anin stated.

According to Anin, the direct presence of President Prabowo and President Macron at the FI-HLBC launch reflects the strong commitment of both governments to fostering closer economic collaboration.

“This demonstrates that both the business sector and governments are truly focused on investment, trade, technological advancement, and human capital development. The business community greatly appreciates this support,” Anin remarked.

Furthermore, Anin highlighted several strategic sectors that became the focus of discussions between the two countries, including energy and minerals, human resources, manufacturing, education, and healthcare.

“We discussed these four subsectors together to ensure that each business stakeholder can make concrete progress,” he said.

Anin viewed the meeting as a positive signal for the future strengthening of Indonesia-France economic relations. He expressed optimism that the cooperation established would generate broader positive impacts for other business sectors in both countries.

“From a business perspective, this cooperation is progressing very well and will certainly create positive spillover effects for other businesses beyond those directly participating in this forum,” Anin concluded.

Also present at the meeting were Coordinating Vice Chairman for Foreign Affairs of Kadin Indonesia and CEO of Lippo Group James T. Riady, as well as Vice Chairman for Downstream Industry of Kadin Indonesia and CEO of PT Freeport Indonesia Tony Wenas
