Kadin Indonesia and China's Hubei Business Council Explore Strategic Cooperation in Agriculture

Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) held a strategic meeting with the Hubei Business Council from China at Menara Kadin Indonesia, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (08/07/2026).

The Vice Chairperson for Agriculture of Kadin Indonesia, Devi Erna Rachmawati, stated that the meeting discussed various potential areas of cooperation in the agricultural sector. These include increasing trade in agricultural products, agribusiness investment, the transfer of modern agricultural technology, the development of the agricultural processing industry, research and innovation, as well as human resource capacity building through training and expertise exchange programs.

Devi also noted that the collaboration between Kadin Indonesia and the Hubei Business Council holds massive potential to drive the transformation of Indonesia’s agricultural sector into one that is more modern, productive, and globally competitive.

"Kadin Indonesia is committed to building international partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to farmers, businesses, and the national agricultural industry. The collaboration with the Hubei Business Council is expected to unlock investment opportunities, technology transfer, and expand market access for Indonesian agricultural products," Devi said.

Devi explained that the cooperation focuses on five strategic programs: first, increasing rice productivity through precision agriculture technology; second, investment in the bio-fertilizer, biostimulant, and eco-friendly pesticide industries.

"Third, the development of downstream zones for agricultural products and the food industry; fourth, the establishment of the Indonesia-Hubei Innovation Center; and fifth, opening export access for Indonesian agricultural products to the Chinese market through Hubei’s trade network," Devi explained.

These five areas, Devi added, align with Indonesia’s food security agenda while leveraging Hubei’s strengths in research, agricultural machinery manufacturing, digital technology, and the food processing industry.

"This initiative is part of Kadin Indonesia's commitment to strengthening Indonesia-China economic relations and supporting the development of an innovative, sustainable agricultural sector that can improve the welfare of Indonesian farmers," Devi said.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of CCPIT Hubei (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Hubei Sub-Council), Shi Minghui, expressed appreciation for Kadin Indonesia's welcome and conveyed their readiness to develop a mutually beneficial, long-term cooperation.

"Hubei has extensive experience in agricultural technology development, the food industry, logistics, and international trade, which is expected to add significant value to the collaboration between both parties," Shi said.

Through this exploratory meeting, Kadin Indonesia and the Hubei Business Council look forward to advancing discussions toward more concrete cooperation. This will include the formulation of joint programs, trade missions, business matching, investment, as well as collaborative research and agricultural innovation.
