Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) Anindya Novyan Bakrie, accompanied by members of the organization’s leadership, held an audience with Indonesia’s Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Maman Abdurrahman, at the Ministry of MSMEs office at Smesco, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (November 3, 2026).
During the meeting, Kadin Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the organization’s role in empowering MSMEs and enhancing their capacity, in line with the ongoing revision of the Kadin Law currently under discussion at the House of Representatives (DPR RI).
Anindya, popularly known as Anin, said that Kadin hoped to secure the Ministry of MSMEs’ support for the revision of the Kadin Law, which has entered the stage of discussions on the Problem Inventory List (Daftar Inventarisasi Masalah/DIM) with the government. According to Anin, the revision is expected to broaden the organization’s role, enabling it not only to represent large-scale business owners but also to provide opportunities for millions of MSME players across Indonesia to participate.
“We see Kadin’s vision as going beyond involving the top-tier business players or the top 50,000 entrepreneurs. It is about ensuring that the other 60 million businesses can also participate. The majority, or around 97% of them, are MSMEs that need support to move up to the next level,” Anin said.
Anin added that strengthening MSME capacity is one of the keys to helping Indonesia escape the middle-income trap. Therefore, Kadin aims to contribute through policy advocacy, business assistance, and capacity-building programs for entrepreneurs.
Furthermore, Anin explained that Kadin’s membership encompasses not only regional Kadin chapters but also associations and business groups closely connected with various ministries and MSME players. This potential is expected to strengthen collaboration in disseminating and supporting the implementation of government programs, including President Prabowo Subianto’s agenda to gradually drive economic growth toward the 8% target.
To broaden MSME participation, Anin also emphasized that MSMEs joining Kadin as members would not be charged membership fees.
“MSMEs will be able to join Kadin free of charge. The objective is to help them strengthen their capabilities and gain access to financing, markets, and technology. This is where Kadin plays a role: enabling established businesses to support those that are just starting out,” Anin explained.
Meanwhile, Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman expressed his ministry’s support for accelerating discussions on the revision of the Kadin Law. He said the initiative was in line with efforts to boost national economic growth toward the 8% target set by President Prabowo Subianto.
Maman said the government and Kadin shared a common commitment to strengthening business growth in Indonesia, encompassing micro, small, and medium enterprises as well as large corporations.
“Together, Kadin and the Ministry of MSMEs recognize the need to support the acceleration of deliberations on the Kadin Law as part of efforts to foster the growth of entrepreneurs across the country, including micro, small, and medium enterprises as well as large businesses,” Maman said.
Maman added that the revision process was still underway following the issuance of a Presidential Letter (Surat Presiden/Surpres). The Ministry of MSMEs is among the ministries mandated to participate in the deliberations, while the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry serves as the lead ministry.
However, Maman emphasized that the Ministry of MSMEs’ main concern was ensuring that the revised law would also provide protection and empowerment for micro, small, and medium enterprises across Indonesia.
“Kadin also has a strong commitment to ensuring that this law provides protection and empowerment for MSMEs,” he added.
Also attending the meeting were Kadin Indonesia Coordinating Vice Chairman for Cooperatives and MSMEs Nurdin Halid; Coordinating Vice Chairman for Law and Human Rights, Facilities and Infrastructure M. Azis Syamsuddin; and Vice Chairman for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Rico Rustombi.
