Jakarta – Indonesian business confidence in the country's economic prospects continues to strengthen under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto. This optimism is reflected in Domestic Investment (Penanaman Modal Dalam Negeri/PMDN), which reached nearly IDR 2,000 trillion during the first two years of President Prabowo's administration, accounting for more than half of total national investment.
Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) Anindya Bakrie said the substantial contribution of domestic investment highlights the strategic role of national businesses, including medium-sized enterprises, in strengthening Indonesia's economic resilience. He noted that business sector participation in investment is an important asset in maintaining economic resilience amid global uncertainty.
“When we look at domestic investment, it also involves our colleagues in the middle-market segment. We believe this can, once again, further strengthen our resilience,” Anindya said in his report at the Presidential Briefing for Participants of the President's Program for Future Indonesian Leaders (P3MDI) Batch 1 for the 2026 Fiscal Year and participants of the Kadin National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) from across Indonesia. The event was held at the President's private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
Furthermore, Anindya emphasized that the business community is also committed to contributing to the development of future industries, rather than focusing solely on strengthening existing industries. Several sectors with significant development potential include electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy, and data centers, all of which offer considerable opportunities for the use of locally sourced components.
“Not only for the industries that exist today, but also for future industries, such as EVs, renewable energy, and data centers, which have considerable potential for local components. And, of course, Mr. President, the theme of this year's National Leadership Meeting is people's economy and taking Indonesia to the global stage,” Anindya added.
Anindya also highlighted the significant role of the private sector in the national economy. He said the business community has considerable room to contribute to economic growth, expand business opportunities, and create new entrepreneurs capable of competing at both national and global levels.
“The people's economy is already taking shape within the business community. We recognize, and this is our responsibility, that IDR 4,000 trillion out of the IDR 25,000 trillion GDP comes from the state budget. This means the remaining approximately 85 percent represents an area where the business community can contribute. What we want is not only for regional entrepreneurs and those within associations and business organizations to grow together and move up the value chain, but also for them to become major players in the future,” Anindya explained.
On the same occasion, Anindya noted that Indonesia's economic fundamentals continue to demonstrate resilience amid various global disruptions. He said Indonesia remains one of the world's economic bright spots, as previously highlighted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“Indonesia continues to be the bright spot. This was stated by the IMF last year, and it has been proven that Indonesia remains a bright spot. Through five economic shocks over the past 25 years or so, Indonesia has grown stronger over time. This demonstrates just how resilient our economy is,” he said.
This optimism reflects the business community's readiness to serve as one of the key drivers of national development. Through stronger domestic investment, the development of future industries, and the empowerment of regional entrepreneurs, Kadin Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to building a stronger people's economy and enhancing Indonesia's standing on the global stage.
