Anindya Bakrie Encourages Implementation of Cooperation with the UAE in AI, Healthcare, and Energy Sectors

Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, received the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia, Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, at the Kadin Tower in South Jakarta on Wednesday (August 6, 2025).

Anindya, commonly known as Anin, emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of strategic cooperation projects with the UAE, particularly in priority sectors such as renewable energy, healthcare, digitalization, and downstream industrial development.

“What’s interesting about the UAE is, first, their longstanding relationship with Indonesia. Second, our cooperation has evolved from basic industries like ports and shipping to more modern sectors such as healthcare, education, digitalization, and even artificial intelligence,” said Anin.

Anin also highlighted the UAE’s contributions in the fields of culture and environmental sustainability. One notable example is the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Surakarta, which stands as a symbol of the two countries' cultural ties. Additionally, the UAE has actively supported Indonesia’s decarbonization efforts through mangrove planting programs.

“From Kadin’s perspective, our focus is on strengthening B2B (business-to-business) cooperation. We discussed the importance of establishing a high-level business council so that leading industry players in the UAE can directly engage with Indonesian businesses,” Anin stated.

“We already have the foundation. Now it’s about how we accelerate it further and that’s the role of Kadin and the business community: implementation, implementation, implementation,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri echoed similar sentiments. He noted that bilateral cooperation has expanded well beyond traditional sectors such as ports, airlines, and oil and gas.

“Today, we are entering a much broader spectrum of collaboration from renewable energy, geothermal, healthcare, and food security to infrastructure,” he explained.

“We want to ensure that all proposals from both sides are considered at the highest level. We firmly believe that the relationship between the Republic of Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates has no limits—the sky is always the limit,” the Ambassador concluded.

For context, Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie was accompanied during the meeting by Kadin Vice Chairman for International Relations, Bernardino M. Vega.
