Anindya Bakrie Temui Menko Yusril, Konsultasi Revisi UU Kadin

Jakarta – Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) Anindya Novyan Bakrie met with Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Legal Affairs, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, at the Coordinating Ministry’s office in Trinity Tower, Jakarta, on Thursday (October 22, 2026).

During the meeting, Anindya, popularly known as Anin, said that Kadin Indonesia had consulted Minister Yusril regarding the revision of Law No. 1 of 1987 on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which has been in effect for 39 years.

“We came here as part of the Kadin leadership to report on our progress and consult with him in his capacity as Coordinating Minister and a senior expert in constitutional law, considering that Kadin is revising its law, which dates back 39 years to 1987,” Anin said.

Anin explained that Kadin Indonesia serves as a platform for the business community and a strategic partner of the government. Therefore, regulatory updates are necessary to ensure that Kadin’s role remains relevant to changing times, including developments in reform and digitalization.

“He (Minister Yusril) understands very well that Kadin is also a strategic partner of the government. This is why we are pursuing these updates, as the times have changed, with reforms, digitalization, and other developments,” Anin said.

Anin added that the business community needs greater support to contribute more significantly to government programs, including efforts to drive national economic growth to 7–8 percent. He said the consultation with Minister Yusril was intended to obtain input from a legal perspective, given that the legislative revision process must remain within the framework of the rule of law.

“The bill has now completed the parliamentary stage as a legislative initiative, and the government is currently preparing the DIM, or List of Issues, for discussion with the government,” Anin said.

Meanwhile, Minister Yusril welcomed the initiative to revise the Kadin Law. He confirmed that the government was currently preparing its DIM, and that the President would subsequently appoint ministers to represent the government in discussions on the Kadin bill with the House of Representatives (DPR).

Minister Yusril emphasized that alignment between the government and Kadin is crucial to establishing a strong and resilient business environment. This synergy is also an important asset for Indonesia in navigating global economic challenges and supporting the achievement of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

“The government greatly needs a strong and united Kadin. The business sector cannot develop without the state, and vice versa. The government must support Kadin’s needs so that its programs align with short-, medium-, and long-term targets,” Minister Yusril said.

Furthermore, Minister Yusril noted that close cooperation between the government and Kadin serves as an important foundation as Indonesia works toward joining the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) within the next three years.

Upon completion of the accession process, Indonesia would become the third Asian country to join the OECD after Japan and South Korea, marking its entry into the group of developed economies. To support this target, the government is committed to legal reform, reducing bureaucratic red tape, simplifying regulations, and combating corruption and bribery.

“I hope that this close cooperation between the government and Kadin will help us achieve our goal of becoming the third country in Asia to join the OECD and enter the group of developed economies,” Minister Yusril said.

Also in attendance were M. Azis Syamsuddin, Coordinating Vice Chairman of Kadin Indonesia for Legal Affairs and Human Rights, and Infrastructure; Rico Rustombi, Vice Chairman for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs); and Adisatrya Sulisto, Head of Kadin Indonesia’s Legislative Relations Agency.
