Arsjad Rasjid: Students can be Part of the Success of Indonesia Emas 2045

The dominance of Indonesia's young generation in 2045, or what is often referred to as the demographic bonus, is estimated to reach 70%. In other words, the young generation is the nation's hope to be able to take a strategic role in the future and be part of the realisation of the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045.

Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Arsjad Rasjid, expressed a special message to the new students of Universitas Padjadjaran class of 2024 in a talk show themed ‘The Role of the Young Generation in Indonesia's Economic Transformation’ at the Unpad Student Center Field in Jatinangor, Wednesday 14 August 2024.

‘Students will lead Indonesia in the future. We have a dream that in 2045, Indonesia will become one of the largest economic powers in the world. Indonesia will be more advanced and prosperous,’ said Arsjad Rasjid who is also an Honorary Member of the Board of Trustees (MWA) Unpad.

To support the availability of jobs, Indonesia's economic growth must grow to 8% from the current 5.3%. Economic growth is needed so that investors are interested in investing in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Arsjad Rasjid also reminded that Indonesia currently has a demographic bonus. However, the demographic bonus will become a problem if jobs are not available in time.

‘If there are no jobs, the demographic bonus becomes a catastrophe. If jobs are available, you students must ensure that you have the skills and knowledge that are suitable and needed by the industry in the future,’ Arsjad said.

On various occasions, Arsjad Rasjid has often reminded about the importance of the relevance of skills possessed by individuals in Indonesia with the needs of the industry. This is because it is an obstacle that occurs quite a lot, making it a challenge for this generation to get a decent and suitable job.

‘So now, it is important to focus on learning while gaining experience. Learning theory is good, but internships are also necessary,’ explained Arsjad Rasjid, who is also the cofounder of 5P Global Movement.

On this auspicious occasion, Arsjad Rasjid also gave scholarships to 5 new students of Universitas Padjadjaran. 5P Scholarship provides financial assistance to the five students for 4 years of study.

The five new students who had the opportunity to receive the scholarship came from several different majors. They are Siti Agniya Nurrohmah (Agribusiness), Bagus Aditya Dinovit (Law) Muhammad Adika Putra (Physics), Hasna Athiyah Tsani (Nursing) and Arini Sabila Haq (Statistics).
