Kolaka – The Southeast Sulawesi Chapter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Sultra) held an Affordable Food Movement (Gerakan Pangan Murah/GPM) at the courtyard of the Pomalaa District Office in Kolaka Regency on March 7–8, 2026.
The program, which directly targets the needs of local residents, is one of Kadin Sultra’s concrete efforts to help maintain food price stability amid inflationary pressures affecting several areas across Southeast Sulawesi.
Chairman of Kadin Southeast Sulawesi Anton Timbang said the implementation of the program also received support from Southeast Sulawesi Governor, retired Major General Andi Sumangerukka. According to him, the governor’s support encourages Kadin Sultra to continue implementing concrete measures to stabilize food prices while helping maintain people’s purchasing power.
“We appreciate his attention to maintaining food price stability and the purchasing power of the public,” Anton said.
Anton emphasized that Kadin Sultra is ready to become a strategic partner of the regional government in driving the local economy, particularly through the active involvement of the business community in programs that have a direct impact on society.
“The business community must take part in strengthening the regional economy and improving public welfare,” Anton said.
He added that the Affordable Food Movement is a sustainable program carried out in several regions experiencing relatively high inflationary pressure. The initiative was previously held in Kendari, followed by Kolaka Regency, and is planned to continue in Baubau City.
“We see that several regions are experiencing quite high inflationary pressure, such as Kolaka and Baubau. Therefore, Kadin Sultra initiated the Affordable Food Movement so people can obtain basic necessities at more affordable prices,” Anton explained.
Meanwhile, Chairwoman of Kadin Kolaka Regency Vebrianti Safrudin revealed that 12,000 basic food packages were prepared for the program. Each package included 5 kg of rice priced at Rp55,000, 1 kg of sugar at Rp13,000, and 1 liter of cooking oil at Rp14,000, with discounts of up to Rp5,000 per package.
“Inflation in Kolaka is currently rising. This is where Kadin plays its role as a partner to the government. While the government manages bureaucracy, Kadin supports entrepreneurs to work together in finding economic solutions for the region,” Vebrianti said.
Also present at the event was Kadin Indonesia Vice Chairman for the Kalimantan Region Andi Yuslim Patawari.
