Kadin Highlights Halal Industry as a Pillar of Sustainable Economic Development

Jakarta - Titi Khoiriah, Head of the Sharia Economic Agency at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), served as a speaker at the 2025 National Sharia Economic Forum (Sarasehan Nasional Ekonomi Syariah 2025), held in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 13, 2025). The event was organized by Bank Indonesia, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), and the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS).

This forum serves as a strategic platform that brings together national stakeholders to strengthen synergy and formulate concrete steps for the development of the sharia economy in Indonesia.

In her presentation, Titi Khoiriah emphasized the importance of building an integrated halal value chain from upstream to downstream. This includes sectors such as food and beverages, modest fashion, pharmaceuticals, halal-based healthcare, halal tourism, and Islamic financial industries.

She also highlighted upstream sectors, such as halal-certified slaughterhouses.

“The strengthening of the halal value chain is key to ensuring the sustainability of sharia economic growth, both in domestic and international markets,” Titi stated.

Titi also underlined the strategic role of digitalization in accelerating the national sharia ecosystem. Leveraging technology, she noted, can expand market access, enhance distribution efficiency, and open new business opportunities for sharia-based MSMEs.

According to Titi, Kadin Indonesia is committed to continuing its role as a strategic partner of the government in realizing the vision of Indonesia as a global hub for the sharia economy. This commitment is pursued through strengthening cross-sector collaboration, building international networks, and enhancing the capacity of national sharia economic actors.

She also introduced the Kadin Halalpreneur Program, initiated by the Sharia Economic Agency of Kadin, as one of the organization’s strategic initiatives.

The 2025 National Sharia Economic Forum marks a significant momentum for all stakeholders to reaffirm policy directions, optimize the potential of the halal industry, and ensure that the sharia economy becomes one of the key pillars of inclusive and sustainable national economic growth.

Kadin Indonesia's Sharia Economic Agency continues to push for the acceleration of the halal industry, the increase of halal product exports, and the strengthening of the halal supply chain to support sharia economic and financial growth toward achieving an 8% economic growth target.

The event was attended by prominent national sharia economic figures, including Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, Governor of Bank Indonesia Perry Warjiyo, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy, Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Kamaruddin Amin, Vice Chairman of MUI Anwar Abbas, Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti, along with business representatives, academics, and members of the sharia economic community.
