Jakarta – Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) Anindya Novyan Bakrie met with Director General for American and European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Grata Endah Werdaningtyas, at Menara Kadin Indonesia in South Jakarta on Monday (September 14, 2026).
During the meeting, Kadin Indonesia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed strengthening economic diplomacy synergy, including synchronizing agendas and following up on various trade and investment agreements between Indonesia and countries in the Americas and Europe.
Anindya, popularly known as Anin, said one of the issues discussed was how Kadin and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs could synchronize schedules and follow up on various agreements that had been signed or reached, allowing developments in trade and investment to be monitored on an ongoing basis.
“First, we discussed how we can synchronize our schedules and follow up on what has been signed or agreed upon. This way, we can continuously see how far trade and investment realization has progressed,” Anin said.
Anin also highlighted several upcoming agendas in the United States and Latin America. He said increasing investment and trade would be important to support Indonesia’s gradual economic growth.
“We want to grow gradually at 6%, 7%, and 8%. We need significant investment. This year, we need Rp2,500 trillion, and we are on track, but it has to be carried out, and this is something we need every year,” Anin said.
In addition to investment, Anin said increasing trade was necessary to strengthen Indonesia’s foreign exchange earnings, exchange rate, and foreign exchange reserves. Ultimately, economic growth is also expected to help sustain employment.
Furthermore, Anin said several international agendas would be a focus for Kadin Indonesia, including the B20 and G20 meetings in the United States in November and December.
“B20 will be held in early November, and G20 in mid-December. Of course, the G20 is more government-to-government oriented, but the business sector is usually also expected to play a role,” Anin said.
Kadin Indonesia will also participate in the Indonesia-Latin America and the Caribbean (INALAC) event, which will be held in early October 2026. According to Anin, the agenda will bring Indonesia and Chile together in cooperation that is considered important for strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
“Latin America’s development is more or less similar to Indonesia’s. They want to advance and there is a lot of complementarity. In addition, what we export to the United States is also quite similar to what is needed in Latin America. So this can be utilized,” Anin said.
Anin added that Indonesia’s international economic agenda would continue with several meetings in November, including ASEAN and APEC in Shenzhen.
“So it appears that President Prabowo Subianto is trying his best to engage more effectively, with a focus on the economic sector, in addition to geopolitics,” Anin said.
Meanwhile, Director General for American and European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Grata Endah Werdaningtyas said the meeting with Kadin discussed various areas where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Kadin Indonesia could work together.
“As we know, whenever we carry out economic diplomacy activities, Kadin plays a major role in bringing together entrepreneurs and businesspeople from friendly countries with Indonesia,” Grata said.
She said the government’s role was to serve as a regulator, while businesses were the key actors in carrying out economic activities. Therefore, synergy between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Kadin needs to be strengthened, including through agenda synchronization and the division of roles in various activities going forward.
“Therefore, in this meeting, we synchronized the things we can work on in the coming period by strengthening our synergy, particularly what can be done by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and what Kadin can also support,” she said.
Grata expressed hope that stronger synergy would enable Indonesia’s economic diplomacy to operate as a unified effort and become increasingly concrete in supporting the needs of the business community.
“Our hope is that Indonesia will work together in economic diplomacy as one unified effort. We at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can also support the aspirations of businesspeople in Indonesia. We want our economic diplomacy efforts to be concrete and aligned with the expectations of the Indonesian business community,” she explained.
Also attending the meeting were Kadin Indonesia Vice Chairman for Foreign Relations Bernardino M. Vega and Chairman of the Kadin Indonesia Bilateral Committee for Russia-Belarus, Didit Ratam.
