Requiring 700 Million Eggs per Month, Kadin Partners with China to Strengthen the Food Supply Chain

Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), in collaboration with Kadin Aceh Province, received an official visit from the China Egg Industry Chain Business Delegation in a meeting titled “Strategic Orchestration of China’s Agrotechnology Ecosystem for Strengthening the Supply Chain of MBG Sumatra Corridor” at Menara Kadin Indonesia, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (April 21, 2026).

The Chinese delegation, led by President of the Beijing Egg Association Wang Zhongqiang, was welcomed directly by Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie, alongside Chairman of Kadin Aceh Province Muhammad Iqbal Piyeung.

Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie praised Kadin Aceh Province as a strong example of how regional chambers can optimize their strategic role. He emphasized that the success of regional Kadin chapters not only has local impact but can also contribute to addressing national opportunities.

“We are very pleased to see provincial Kadin organizations like Aceh performing well. Regional chambers can also contribute to addressing national opportunities, including building partnerships with major international partners such as China,” said Anin, as he is commonly known.

Anin highlighted the significance of Indonesia–China trade relations, noting that China remains Indonesia’s largest non-oil and gas export destination, with a value exceeding USD 65 billion annually. On the other hand, nearly 40 percent of Indonesia’s non-oil and gas imports also come from China, primarily consisting of machinery and manufactured goods that support national industrialization.

However, he stressed that this collaboration marks a new breakthrough, particularly in the area of food security.

“This presents a major opportunity in the food security sector, especially in line with the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, which is a government priority. The program will involve 30,000 kitchens (Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units/SPPG), and Kadin plans to contribute to 1,000 kitchens using its own resources,” Anin explained.

He further revealed that the national demand for the MBG program exceeds 700 million eggs per month, or around 24 million eggs per day. In Aceh alone, with approximately 700 kitchens, the demand is estimated at 600,000 eggs per day.

“This demonstrates the enormous scale of demand, including for other protein sources such as chicken meat. Therefore, collaboration with international partners is essential,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Kadin Aceh, Muhammad Iqbal Piyeung, emphasized that the meeting represents a concrete step toward realizing investment in the livestock and food processing sectors in Aceh.

Iqbal disclosed a committed investment for the development of dairy processing facilities as well as an integrated Mega Layer Farm project in Aceh, with a total value of up to RMB 450 million.

“This trust brings us to the stage of real investment realization. We see a future where modern technology can synergize with the availability of land and resources in Aceh,” Iqbal concluded.

Also present at the meeting were Kadin Indonesia Vice Chairman Coordinator for Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Infrastructure and Facilities M. Azis Syamsuddin; Vice Chairman for Organization Taufan Eko Nugroho Rotorasiko; Vice Chairman for Livestock Mohammed Cevy Abdullah; and Head of the Gotong Royong Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Task Force of Kadin Indonesia, Chandra Tirta Wijaya.
