At Kadin Indonesia’s 58th Anniversary Gala Dinner, Anindya Bakrie Emphasizes Stronger Synergy Between Regional Businesses and Government

Jakarta – The Gala Dinner celebrating the 58th anniversary of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), held at the Fairmont Jakarta Hotel on Thursday evening (October 8, 2026), served as a platform to strengthen the business community’s commitment to supporting national economic growth. The event was presented by Amirullah Abbas, Kadin Indonesia’s Deputy Chairman for the Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and North Maluku regions.

Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie emphasized that the organization’s greatest strength lies in its grassroots business community across the regions, from the provincial level to regencies and cities.

The presence of state institution leaders, diplomats, ministry officials, and provincial Kadin leaders further reinforced Kadin Indonesia’s position as a strategic partner of the government and Bank Indonesia in driving the country’s business ecosystem.

“We want to contribute more. Of the total 100% of our GDP, government spending accounts for only 8%. The rest comes from outside government spending. This means it is connected to the business community and domestic consumption,” said Anindya, popularly known as Anin.

As Kadin Indonesia marks its 58th anniversary since its establishment in 1968, Anin said the organization continues to address the challenges of the modern era through regulatory adjustments. He stressed the importance of revising the Kadin Law, which has been in place for 39 years, to accommodate developments in technology, digitalization, global supply chains, and the green economy.

“The revision, which has been approved as an initiative of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), aims to strengthen Kadin’s position as a strategic government partner ahead of the issuance of the regulation, safeguard the organization’s independence, and expand the business community’s contribution to driving national economic growth toward the 8% target,” Anin said.

The regulatory revision is also designed to make Kadin Indonesia a more inclusive organization, with micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) serving as a key pillar. Of Indonesia’s approximately 65 million businesses, 97% are MSMEs, which are vulnerable to disruption from technological advances and artificial intelligence.

By helping regional MSMEs move up the value chain and increasing national per capita income, Indonesia is expected to be able to escape the middle-income trap within the next two decades. Kadin Indonesia is ready to leverage its extensive network, from regional chapters to business associations, to provide the government with practical input from the field.

To support the achievement of these economic targets, Anin said Kadin Indonesia has established several strategic institutions and task forces, including the Kadin Indonesia Institute, Kadin Global Engagement Office, Kadin Indonesia Trading House, and a Training Center.

Kadin Indonesia is also strengthening international economic diplomacy and planning to launch the We Buy From Indonesia book, which highlights the involvement of 80 global brands in using components made in Indonesia.

Anin also expressed his appreciation for the support of regional Kadin leaders, business associations, and former organizational leaders, whose continued solidarity and spirit of togetherness are essential to Indonesia’s future economic progress.

Meanwhile, Erwin Aksa, chairman of the organizing committee for Kadin Indonesia’s 58th anniversary gala dinner and Coordinating Deputy Chairman for Organization, Communications, and Regional Empowerment, said Kadin Indonesia’s continued presence and development were the result of collective effort, collaboration, and contributions from regional Kadin chapters, business associations, Extraordinary Members, businesspeople, donors, and strategic partners attending the event.

He expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all parties who had supported Kadin Indonesia throughout its journey.

“I would like to extend special thanks to all our strategic partners. Your support represents not merely a contribution to organizing an event, but also an expression of trust in Kadin Indonesia,” Erwin said.

As Kadin Indonesia enters its 58th year, Erwin added, the anniversary celebration should not be treated merely as a ceremonial occasion. Instead, it should serve as a moment to reflect on the future and prepare for the next stage of development.

“We want Kadin to become an even stronger home for the business community, closer to businesses in the regions, and increasingly capable of serving as a bridge between the business community and the national government’s agenda,” Erwin said.

In his remarks, Amirullah Abbas, Kadin Indonesia’s Deputy Chairman for the Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and North Maluku regions and chairman of the organizing committee for the 58th anniversary gala dinner, said the event provided an opportunity to strengthen unity and advance the business community.

“Hopefully, businesspeople will continue to progress in the years ahead. As businesspeople, our simple hope is that today will be better than yesterday, and that the days to come will bring even greater progress. That is our simple aspiration,” Amirullah said.

In his address, Chairman of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin emphasized that the DPD RI and Kadin Indonesia play complementary and strategic roles within the national economic ecosystem.

“The DPD RI is responsible for bringing regional voices and aspirations into national policymaking, while Kadin Indonesia mobilizes the energy of the business community and identifies business needs across the regions,” Sultan said.

Cooperation between the two institutions is therefore essential to ensure that national development goes beyond headline economic growth figures. It must also create jobs, generate added value, strengthen investment, help MSMEs move up the value chain, and advance regional industries.

Also attending the event were Kadin Indonesia Coordinating Deputy Chairman for Food Mulyadi Jayabaya; Coordinating Deputy Chairman for Social Affairs Nita Yudi; Coordinating Deputy Chairman for Investment, Downstreaming, Energy, and the Environment Bobby Gafur Umar; Coordinating Deputy Chairman for Cooperatives and MSMEs Nurdin Halid; Coordinating Deputy Chairman for Law and Human Rights, Facilities and Infrastructure M. Azis Syamsuddin; and Coordinating Deputy Chairman for Export Development Juan Permata Adoe.

Leaders of Kadin provincial chapters from across Indonesia were also in attendance.
