Davao, Philippines – In an effort to strengthen economic ties and strategic cooperation between Indonesia and the Philippines, particularly in the Mindanao region, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Davao City hosted the Networking Meeting on Stronger Agribusiness Partnership between Indonesia and Mindanao at the House of Indonesia, Davao City, on Saturday (July 18, 2026).
The event served as a key momentum to deepen trade, investment, and agribusiness collaboration between Indonesian and Philippine business players, while opening broader opportunities to support food security and sustainable agricultural development in the ASEAN region.
The event was officially opened by the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City, Agus Trenggono, who reaffirmed the Indonesian government's commitment—through economic diplomacy—to continually drive trade, investment, and business cooperation between the two nations, particularly in Mindanao, which holds immense potential in the agriculture and agribusiness sectors.
The highlight of the event was the signing of a Business-to-Business (B2B) Trade and Investment Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the agricultural sector, marking a concrete step toward reinforcing strategic partnerships between Indonesian and Philippine enterprises.
The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by the Vice Chairperson for Agricultural Affairs of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), Devi Erna Rachmawati, who also serves as the General Chairperson of the NEXTANI Indonesia Association, alongside Consul General Agus Trenggono, as a demonstration of support for advancing bilateral business cooperation and investment.
In her remarks, Devi stated that Indonesia and the Philippines possess vast potential to build a stronger ASEAN agribusiness ecosystem through synergy among government entities, the business sector, academia, and investors.
"Indonesia and the Philippines share a common vision in realizing regional food security. Through cooperation in trade, investment, technology transfer, agricultural innovation, and human resource development, we can build an ASEAN agricultural sector that is more modern, competitive, and sustainable," Devi remarked.
Beyond the MoU signing, the event provided a platform for business networking and business matching between entrepreneurs from both countries to explore various cooperative opportunities in agricultural commodity trade, agribusiness investment, agricultural technology transfer, organic fertilizers and sustainable farming, smart farming and digital agriculture, food security, as well as human resource development and capacity building for business players.
Through this event, Indonesia and the Philippines reaffirmed their shared commitment to fortifying bilateral economic relations through private sector collaboration, increased investment, trade, innovation, and agricultural technology transfer.
The partnership established is expected to serve as a foundation for creating a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agribusiness ecosystem, while supporting ASEAN food security and deepening the friendly relations between Indonesia and the Philippines.
