Ahead of Eid 2024 Long Holiday, Entrepreneurs Utilise Business Potentials

Businesses have made various anticipations to face the 2024 Eid al-Fitr collective leave policy imposed by the government by utilising the economic potential that arises during this period.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) for Regional Autonomy Development, Sarman Simanjorang in an interview on the 'Jakarta Pagi Ini' programme on 91.2FM Pro1 RRI Jakarta, Tuesday (19/3/2024).

In addition to anticipating a surge in travel, the industry is also accelerating production to meet market demand during the Lebaran holiday period to avoid stock shortages.

According to Sarman, the Lebaran joint leave policy is expected to drive the national economy through increased homecoming and tourism trips. It is estimated that around 193 million people or around 70% of Indonesia's total population will travel to their hometowns, which will have a significant impact on national economic growth.

"Eid al-Fitr is the momentum of the largest money circulation in Indonesia which will increase people's purchasing power, household consumption, and drive various business sectors such as transportation and tourism," Sarman said.

The 2024 Lebaran joint leave policy, he continued, is expected to not only be a moment to gather with family, but also an opportunity for businesses to optimise economic potential and strengthen national economic recovery amid the challenges that are still being faced.

Previously. The government has set the Lebaran leave schedule for 2024, which will last for 10 days for government employees. Based on the Joint Ministerial Decree Number 855 of 2023 and Number 3 and 4 of 2023 on National Holidays and Collective Leave, the 2024 Eid al-Fitr long holiday schedule is as follows:

6 and 7 April 2024: Weekend holiday

8 and 9 April 2024: Eid 2024 collective leave

10 and 11 April 2024: Hari Raya Eid al-Fitr 1445 H

12 April 2024: Eid al-Fitr 2024 collective leave

13 and 14 April 2024: Weekend holiday

15 April 2024: Eid al-Fitr 2024 joint leave

This policy officially applies to ASN / PNS / BUMN or government employees. However, for private employees, Lebaran 2024 leave is not mandatory (facultative). This means that the Eid leave policy for private employees can be the same as that set by the government or adjust to their respective company policies.
