Chairman of Kadin Indonesia China Committee (KIKT) Garibaldi Thohir or Boy Thohir initiated and supported the International Hijriah Food Festival held in collaboration with Khazanah Al-Wahda Kreatif, da'wah media and Islamic communities @sholehahstory, @jofisah.id and @khazanahnetwork in commemoration of the Islamic New Year 1446H. The event was held in the front yard of the Ath-Thohir Mosque, Cimanggis, Depok, West Java, on Sunday (7/7/2024).
Boy Thohir said that the International Hijriah Food Festival was part of the tradition that he wanted to be presented in order to welcome the Islamic New Year.
"Thank you for your presence tonight. I also invite non-Muslim colleagues and friends because I want to show this is a modern, moderate, rahmatan lil alamain Islam,’ Boy said in his speech.
Furthermore, through the International Hijriah Food Festival, Boy also wants to show that Islam in Indonesia can be an example.
‘I want to show something new so that our children, Indonesian Islam can be an example,’ he said.
In addition, SOE Minister Erick Thohir said that the Hijri New Year must be built, because sometimes it is not a priority for some people. The moment of the Hijri New Year is expected to leave a good impression on Muslims.
"I really encourage this Hijri year to be celebrated even more by the people and even the entire Indonesian nation. Anywhere, of course, in the city, in the province, not to pursue the festivities but more about gratitude but of course also a good day because Hijrah means something to a better place,’ said Mr Thohir.
In addition to SOE Minister Erick Thohir, a number of guests attended the International Hijriah Food Festival celebration such as Zulkifli Hasan (Minister of Trade), Abdullah Azwar Anas (Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform), and Bahlil Lahadalia (Minister of Investment).
Also present were a number of other figures such as PBNU Chairman KH. Yahya Cholil Staquf and PBNU Secretary General Syaifullah Yusuf, Sofyan, Rosan Roeslani, Djoko Suyanto, and Hatta Rajasa.The International Hijriah Food Festival will be held in four cities in Indonesia. In Depok on 6-7 July 2024, Tangerang on 13-14 July, Surabaya on 20-21 July 2024 and Solo on 27-28 July 2024.
In the event, various food stands are presented that can be enjoyed by the public, ranging from commonly found food in general to international food which is divided into 5 areas namely North Asia, South East Asia, Middle-East, Western and Indonesia.The food festival is open to the public and admission is free.In addition, the event also features an archipelago art parade, fireworks display, children's play area, video mapping, and a music stage that visitors can enjoy.
