Kadin and FSC Discuss PfA Policy for Forest and Natural Resources Sustainability

In carrying out efforts to manage forests and natural resources sustainably, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has developed a policy known as the FSC Policy for Association (PfA).

In connection with efforts to manage forests and natural resources sustainably, Vice Chairman for Environment and Forestry, Silverius Oscar Unggul held a discussion with FSC Country Manager, Hartono Prabowo, and a number of related officials to understand and discuss the challenges and opportunities that arise in implementing this policy, including the remediation framework in maintaining the sustainability of forests and natural resources in Indonesia, on Monday (11/9/2023).

As a continuation of this meeting, recommendations and proposals will be submitted to FSC to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the remediation process strategy and policy implementation which also supports the Regenerative Forest Business Hub (RFBH) programme initiated by Kadin Indonesia.

This discussion is considered very strategic for Indonesian forestry and forestry companies, especially to better understand the impact of the implementation of PfA and Remedy Framework policies in the context of forest and natural resource sustainability. In addition, it can also provide strategic input to the FSC Board and see opportunities to synergise the context and practice of national forest and forestry businesses in Indonesia with the PfA and Remedy Framework policies with Indonesia's national policies and strategies related to the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and FOLU Net Sink 2030.

"Stakeholders and the public need to better understand the PfA and Remedy Framework policies and the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in implementing and mitigating the impacts of implementing these policies. We not only identify challenges in the implementation of PfA and Remedy Framework in the national context, but also opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of strategies in the remediation process and policy implementation," said Silverius.
